Question about Texas Instruments TI-89 Calculator

1 Answer

I'm trying to transfer a text file document from my desktop to my TI-89 NoteFolio. I have downloaded NoteFolioCreator and TIConnect to my desk top satisfactorily. I followed all the steps and get as far as to the point where it say click on document and drag from the desk top into TIConnect TI-89 DeviceExplorer. The TI-89 bar to drag to shows up so I know it recognizes the calculator, but I get this message " :txt document is not compatible to the connected device". Am I saving it to my desk top wrong?? I need "HELP" Thanks.

You need to install notefolio to your TI-89.

You can download the program from:

After you download the program file, you can use TI-Connect to transfer the program file to your calculator (after you connect the calculator to the computer with the USB cable). To transfer the files, simply drag and drop the program file onto the TI-Connect icon on your computer.

Notefolio app not showing in my TI89

Transfer it to the calculator, if you have not done so already. If it has been installed, it should show on the AppsDesktop. To explore the desktop, use the arrow keys. You can also deactivate the AppsDesktop ON on the last page of the MODE, to have a list displayed when you press the Apps key. Once you find the NoteFolio app, select it and press ENTER. Here is how you proceed afterwards.

I want to download apps to calculator... for example... i want to download notefolio on my calculator ti-89 but when i used ti-connect to trasnfer notes to my calculator i couldnt find notes on my...

if you downloaded with a browser like mozila or so ..it will be in a folder named Downloads..on my documents ..if you downloaded it with another one ...you have to check the download director for that program ...for example some makes the download director into my computer ..C drive ..downloads..
but if you are looking and can not find it ..just go to the start ...pres search ..and choose files and folders..and add the name of the file you search it ...if it is on computer it will find it for you ..than on the address bar you will see its location ..( or click right properties and go to file ..)

It says that i have to download new software, but dnt know how.

Hello,
Use the following link to go to education.ti.com
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/downloadcenter/SoftwareList.do?website=US&tabId=1&paneId=2
to download specific software for the TI83PLUS (Operating system , Apps or others.)
Use this second link to download the TIConnect software for Windows (if you use Windows). You may already have the latest version on the CD that was with the calculator.
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/downloadcenter/SoftwareDetail.do?website=US&tabId=1&appId=183

Install the TIconnect software on you computer. Execute TIconnect. Then connect you calculator to the computer with the TISilverLink Cable. Turn calculator on.
Verify that connection is established by clicking the TI Device Explorer icon in the TI connect main window. If it is established, you can Cilck the Update button at the top of the TIconnect Main window. It will update The OS, and the applications that are installed on you calculator.

Later if you go to education.ti.com and find other applications you would like on your calculator, download them on your computer. If you run TIConnect software you will be able to drag an application and drop it on the TIConnect main window and it will be installed on your calculator.

Hope it helps.

Hi,
Microsoft net framework 1.1 would be the latest one. Download the same from the link below :-
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=262D25E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en

Once you download the above, the issue would be fix.

The TI-89 Titanium calc. purchased in Oct. 09 won't turn on

Hello,
Try to increase the contrast
1. Turn it on
2. press [2nd] and release button
3. Press [UpArrow] and release button
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until contrast is adequate.

If that does not work use the link below to install TIConnect software
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/US/productDetail/us_ti_connect.html
Install it on your computer and run it to oppen the main Window. Then connect you calculator to a USB port and, in the TIConnect main window Click the TIConnect TIDeviceInfo. It will try retrieve the info.
If it does your calculator is fine.

If it tells you Device Not found , Click communication settings in same pop up window where it said Not found, and Select Device, Select Cable, Select Port and try OK..

If all that does not work, then it may be time look for a repair shop.

If you are lucky and it works, you should reinstall the OS, which can be downloaded from education.ti.com. You drag and drop the OS on the TIconnect main window. Calculator must of couse be connected to computer.
Hope it helps

I accidentally resetted my ti-89 titanium

Hello,
Use the TIConnect software to connect the calculator to the computer. Then in the TIconnect main window you can drag and drop the applications you downloaded from education.ti.com. They will be transferred to the calculator.
I cannot understand why you cannot graph normally since the graphing is not an application, it is part of the OS.
While you are connected to the Internet and to the calculator, you may want to reinstall the OS directly from education.ti.com to your calculator
Hope it helps.
