Normally, the front loading machines come with a special stacking kit (that may be available separately). Now I wonder why one would put the washer on top! Most of the time the washer is put at the bottom making it easier for plumbing. Secondly, in case of a large spill, it would be safer to have the dryer on top due to the power required for the heating elements. I would therefore not recommend putting the washer on top even if that might be possible to do so...
100% NO. Washer weighs 300 lbs. Dryer probably about 100 lbs. Not to mention most front load washers spin out at 1200 rpm or so and the thing would shake and rattle and like crazy

I had a similar problem, My washer spun but the clothes were still soaked with water. We replaced the inertia switch. That solved it.

Their are screws between the washer and dryer. Undo those and the screws inside the dryer, next too and below the lint trap.

There is no stack kit to do what you propose. That said, you may be able to construct a compartment on top of one unit to accept the other.
