The light tunnel has collapsed and needs replacement. it's only about $10 and fairly easy to replace.

My dell d630 laptop wont recognize my infocus lp70+ remote control and I can't advance my powerpoint slides with the remote control

Here's what the User's Manual says:

Using the Remote Control

To advance PowerPoint slides with the projector's remote, you

must connect the USB cable on the projector's computer cable to

the computer. See page 8 for more information.

Point the remote control at the projection screen or at the front or

rear of the projector (not at the computer). The range for optimum

operation is about 30 feet. If you point the remote at the

projection screen, the distance to the screen and back to the projector

must be less than or equal to 30 feet. For best results, point

the remote directly at the projector.

If you are displaying presentations in Microsoft® PowerPoint®,

you can use the remote's Previous and Next buttons to navigate

through your presentation while in Slide Show mode.

Dark spot issue.

Its an acrylic condensing lens inside the light engine that has melted/warped. You have to pullout the entire light engine then disassemble the optical light tunnel to get too the lens. Then you need a lens-smith to cut a new lens because Infocus won't stand behind this design flaw. Its really a shame on Infocus!

Black and white specks from InFocus X1 projector

if you can get a menu when you press the menu button, reset the settings to factory default. if you don't get a menu, the color wheel or the dmd chip is bad. either way, you'll have to replace the entire optical engine. and unfortunately, infocus no longer has any more in stock.

Infocus x1 noise problem

the colorwheel motor does burn out after a while (from heat and dust), but as long as it spins at the right speed, you won't see a problem in the image. if it's making noise, it's going to go soon. it does need replacing. however, infocus does not sell individual parts for the x1 optical engine. you will need to replace the entire engine, which costs up to $2000. so, enjoy the last few hours with your machine and look into getting another.
