Question about Umax Astra 2200 Flatbed Scanner
My old computer crash and had to buy a new one that came preloaded with vista. Is there a patch or updated driver so that I can make it work? Please help? Should I somehow go back to XP (I have the disk)?
Hi, The Umax Support/Download (http://www.umax.com/download/index.jsp) do not have any patch/updated drivers for your scanner compatible with Vista. If the only issue that you would downgrade your operating system back to XP is because of the canner, it may not be necessary. It is possible to dual both allowing you a choice of Vista or XP. This is better explained at (http://apcmag.com/5485/dualbooting_vista_and_xp). This way you will retain the use of the new features of Vista in your new computer and yet when necessary make use of your previous devices that will only run in XP. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turn out or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.

My new ASUS laptop also came with Vista OS. I recycled the old laptop and I may have the old laptop's xp discs -- not sure but I'll be looking. Any other way to add xp to the Vista laptop so I can run the Umax Astra 2200? (I am very dense on these things, so please speak slowly.) Thanks! Alonzo.,
I have found that if you reboot before you use the scanner, it will work as normal - try this next time - it works for me - [email protected]
My Umax 2200 USB scanner does not work in Vista Home Premium, fully updated to Sept 08. The TWAIN driver does not load from the original disk. Computer does not want to restart. Cannot uninstall the program Presto Page manager that has the TWAIN driver in. To restart choice is press the restart switch, get the screen up to revert to previous working condition. So far have not found a cure.
