My husband has an ipod nano and has downloaded the software onto our ccomputer, it works great. i've now bought an ipod shuffle but don't want to share his music. is there any way we can seperate our music or ipod programs on the same computer?
Hello there! There are a few different ways you might solve this problem. The easiest thing to do would be for you and your husband to each create your own playlists. Consider putting your initials in front of the name of each of your playlists, and your husbands initials in front of his, so that in an alphabetical list, you wind up with all of yours grouped together, and he has all of his grouped together. Now it's time to connect each iPod in turn. When you connect yours, click the iPod icon in the left hand column (the 'sources' column), and click through the tabs to the right until you get to the screen where you can choose to sync 'all playlists' or 'selected playlists'. Click on 'selected playlists' and then check off all of yours (or whichever you'd like at the time, if you have more music than will fit), none of his. When your iPod is done loading up that music, go ahead & disconnect it. Now repeat the process for your husband's iPod, selecting his playlists but not yours. From that point forward, when you plug in each iPod to sync with your library of music, it will remember which playlists it is supposed to sync with, and which it should ignore. Just remember that if & when you create brand new playlists in the future, you'll need to go back into the iPod settings to tell iTunes to sync that new playlist with your iPod (this can be done only while your iPod is connected). Hope this gets you where you were looking to go... best of luck!
