If you are using Windows 95, the player is not supported. If you are using Windows 2000 or XP, it will show the player as MTP player. If the MTP is not shown on My Computer, install the player as removable disk (use Device Manger, find the device connected, right-click on the player icon, and click Update Driver).

Hi,most mp3 player always those that. not connecting to computer. What to do is this, you will need to go to the device manager on your system and uninstall the usb driver installed on the system. After uninstalling the drivers ..,Insert the mp3player and install the drivers again . our done....
Make sure the USB cable your using is working properly.
The problem is the usb ports in your pc. You know the drive works and is properlly deteced on the laptop so you can ignore that.
IF you can try other usb devices in your pc usb ports and see if they work.If they don't at all then you either have dead ports or drivers are missing. You should see them listed under control panel system hardware.
If they work then I would wonder if the usb drive you have requires a differant usb port than what you have. There is a type 1 and 2 and type 3 which has just come out so we can ignore that one. A type 1 is slower and cannot power devices usually. A type 2 is faster and can power some devices. I don't know how old your pc is so it could be hardware, either failure or drives. You should also makre sure you have the service packs installed for windows. Sp3 is the latest version. There were some changes to the way usb devices were deteced in Sp2 if I remember correctly.
On the left hand side of the page theres a menu list including Downloads, You can get drivers, firmware updates from there on the righ hand side of the page there a menu list including Manuals, you should be able to download instructions from there.
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
