My screen has a kind of fuzzy and thin dotted green line about 2cm down from the top of screen running all the way across. Above this line it is fine. Below this line it continually flickers and I can't get it to stop! It was very all of a sudden and I'd like it to stop!
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query on fixya.
The screen could exhibit such issue , if the screen has gone bad or the video card that give signals to the screen. To isolate the problem connect the laptop to an external monitor / TV if the output on the same is fine , the video card is fine and the screen would need a replacement.

Connect an external monitor to your laptop, if you get a clear image on this monitor the the video card in the laptop is OK.
The fault could be a defective inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or a faulty CCFL lamp. Most likely a faulty CCFL lamp.
Defective CCFL backlight may has the following symptom:
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) as reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
