I can ear the music but the screen stays black

try other media players just go online and type your zune and at the same time look for media players that can transfer your files we get stuck on just using WINDOS MEDIA PLAYERs but so many media players are out for you to use not just this one.

The screen may have failed or a connector is loose.

I can suggest replaceing the screen, but check the connections first allthought it may be a problem in the mainboard instead of the lcd not working.

hey bro just solved the same issue =] plug your zune player into your laptop desktop ect. and activate the lock switch the charging symbol should pop on and let it charge and your set.

When I first got my Zune the sound was really bad, but it turned out that I hadn't pushed the headphone jack all the way in. Don't be afraid to use a little force because it's necessary. I'm not sure if this is what's wrong or not, though. Hopefully it's a not a problem with the device.

it seems as if something may have been attached badly on the inside that is a facttory problem is it still under warenty? if so i would send it back for a new one

all of the zunes 30gb in the world went dead last night go to zune support.com and request a repair they will be helping you soon .

A co-worker of mine may have found a solution. But it is risky, since you have to open your Zune. Since his Zune has already no warranty, he carefully opened it, unplugged the battery cable and waited a few seconds, plugged it again and restarted.

The device is now working! we're listening to it right now and the computer recognized it. It seems like a solution to me! Try pressing BACK+LEFT+CENTER as it is coming on. Then reinstall the firmware.
