How to Edit Kodak Video with Windows Movie Maker

How to convert kodak video to WMV and import kodak video to windows movie maker?

Windows Movie Maker is a very useful application to edit videos, and it has many features such as effects, titles/credits, transitions, audio track, timeline, narration and so on. However, if you want to edit Kodak videos using Windows Movie Maker, you will have to convert Kodak video to Windows Movie Maker supported video formats such as WMV, AVI and ASF.

Kodak video to Windows Movie Maker Converter can do the job perfectly. The following two parts will guide you through the steps to convert Kodak video to Windows Movie Maker and edit Kodak video with Windows Movie Maker.

Part one: Convert Kodak video to Windows Movie Maker.
Step 1.Download and install Kodak video to Windows Movie Maker Converter on your computer.

Step 2.Click the "Add Video" button to locate the Kodak video and add it to the converter.

Step 3.Select the WMV format from the Profile list as the output format.

Step 4.Click the "start" button to start converting."

Part two: Edit Kodak video with Windows Movie Maker.

If you are using Kodak Video to Windows Movie Maker Converter, what you need is just to know where the converted files are saved. But if you use the Kodak to Windows Movie Maker on Mac, you need to copy the converted files to your Windows machine, because you can only run the Windows Movie Maker on Windows.

Step 1.Click "New Project" from the "File" menu to create a new project. And click "Save Project As" to save this project.

Step 2.Click "Import Collections" from the "File" menu, locate the folder where the converted files (now in WMV format) are save, and add the files you want to edit.

Step 3.Drag the video files to your Windows Movie Maker storyboard on the bottom of the interface.

Step 4.Add transitions. Select "View Video Transitions" from the left panel. Drag the transitions you prefer into the middle box of the storyboard.

Step 5.You can cut some time from a video by clicking and moving the half triangle at the side of the video.

Step 6.Add music. Go to "Import Audio or Music" and select a song. Then drag the song to the "TimeLine". You can also cut time or make a short sound by clicking and dragging the triangle.

Step 7.Add title or credits. Select "Make titles or credits" from the Movie Task List, and follow the on screen instructions to add titles or credits to your movie.

Step 8.Preview the work you have done by clicking the Play button on the left panel.

Step 9.If you don't need to reedit your movie, click "Save to my computer" from the "File" menu, and select on options from the provided options how you want to save your movie.

Publish and save your Windows Movie Maker movie to your computer

As most of you know, I make computer video tutorials and post them to Youtube for everyone to learn about computers. I do not use anything fancy or even expensive, in fact I use the free Camstudio program to record the tutorial and Windows Movie Maker to edit it... Windows movie make comes with most versions of Windows. In this tutorial I will show you how save and publish your windows movie maker production to your computer. This way you can watch it anytime you like, email it to friends, or upload it to Youtube.

What do you need to save a movie to your computer?

* You will need to have Windows Movie Maker on your computer. If you have a normal version of Windows then you will have Windows Movie Maker installed as well, however some versions do not have it. For example Windows Seven Ultimate doesn't have it.
* You will need a finished movie ready to save. You might have used Camstudio or even a video camera to record it.
* You will need storage space to save the movie to. If you save your movie as an .avi then it will take up twice as much space as a movie saved as .wmv. I usually save my movies as a .wmv as Youtube happily takes this format.

How to Publish my movie to save it on my computer?

When using Windows Movie Maker instead of saying save movie, this program uses the term "publish movie". Therefore we will publish the movie to the computer. This will save the finished movie file to play at a later date.

In this tutorial I will presume that you have finished editing your movie and now want to save it onto your computer.

1. In the tasks menu on the left side, when you have your program open, there is a menu. If you do not see this menu, press on File at the top and choose publish from the drop down menu.
2. If you do see the menu, go to the Publish section.
3. Click on "This computer". See the screenshot below.
4. A Publish movie dialog box will appear.
5. Fill in your movie name.
6. Press on browse to choose where to save your movie on your computer. See screenshot below.
7. Then press the next button.
8. The next window will appear.
9. Choose what setting you want your movie to be. If you choose the top choice, Best quality for playback then your movie will be an AVI and will be bigger in size and need more storage space. See below.
10. If you choose the more settings choice, you can choose more options.
11. See below, if you click the drop down arrow you can see the choices.
12. I usually choose "Windows Media DVD Quality (PAL) (3.0 Mbps)"
13. Down below it will show you the exact details of what your movie will be.
14. Now when you are ready you can press on the publish button and the movie will be converted and saved to your computer.

Using Windows Movie Maker

Windows Movie Maker is pretty picky about file formats. You might want to use Pinnacle Studio. This way once you plug your computer in and turn it on Pinnacle will capture the video for you which is something that Movie Maker was never designed to do.
