I'm having the same problem. I think that if you use, just like me, windows xp, your sound card must be signed digitally. If not, that creates instability in the system, and you have on and off sound problems.

XP and Vista do not need drivers. If you are using XP SP2 or greater that is all you need. If you have an "onboard" sound card try going into your bios and disabling that device first. I use XP and never ever installed drivers for this device. Even after a clean installation of XP.

ALSO:
Try making sure your computer is not going into hibernation or sleep mode. Different power saving motherboards handle USB components differently and your device might be getting dropped.
or

Goto windows sound options, and make sure everything is turned up all the way. If thats good, then goto Control Panel > System > And then the Hardware Tab. Find the Sound Blaster that is listed, click on it - then hit your delete key. After it is removed restart Windows - it should be automatically installed again.

I am in school and my classes are online when I playback the chat session I have no sound

Most likely another application is using the sound board.

Check your start menu and find which programs are loading when you start your computer. Skype and others sometimes take over the sound card. Disable these or remove them from the start menu list.

Restart the computer, now nothing but the basics will load.

Try the headphone jack.

Volume control options through the control panel, make sure it\'s not muted.

If nothing else, try playing music with a media player just to make sure the speakers are working.

If the speakers are working then it\'s an internet problem. Try downloading the most recent software that you\'re trying to view the classes with, most likely Adobe.

As a last resort, try switching internet browsers. If you\'re using Internet Explorer, use Mozilla Firefox, and vice versa. Latest versions or upgrades might help.

If all else fails, you might have Malware or a virus. MalwareBytes and AVG antivirus are both free.

Good sound card to record speeches

All sound cards can record either through the microphone input or line input (in sterio) A sound recording/editing package like Audacity works very well - free downloads available.

Haveing problems

Hey, fontes,

Let's try to work on this, okay.

First, listen carefully: where does the weird sound come from exactly? The speakers or near the computer case?

Does it play music? Try some salsa and listen again for any difference.

Describe your computer the best you can: Is it new? What make is it? Did you install the sound card yourself?

Hey, Fontes, if you answer these questions, I will be notified immediately and will try to work with you. Comprende?

Adios.
