My new samsung a437 wireless phone activation message

My new samsung wireless phone (from AT & T)is saying "smart chip not provisioned-mm2" and I amm trying to activate it,but getting this message.What should I do? I have tried taking the battery out and re-inserting the smart chip/sim card out,but it keeps saying the same message.

    I just got a new Samsung a437 and I'm having the same problem. I called CS to activate my phone, and they said they're just gonna send me a new sim card. But since so many other people have this problem, I'd like to know what it is. :)

    Having same problem LG Cu515. Called customer service. they say it is a system error and they are working on it. Might take a day or 2. What is up with this?

    I have the same problem with an LG CU515.

    No information about it on the AT&T site or elsewhere and the one tech I reached couldn't help.

    Since then I've been spending massive amounts of hold trying to reach someone who can help but no one ever answers.

I have the same problem and have tried for days to resolve this issue while talking to someone in India. This was frustrating at best, and the issue still has not been resolved. Don't buy phones from "Wirefly"!!!!! Biggest mistake I ever made concerning a cell phone purchase. My phones will be going back, my service cancelled and that's the last time I'll buy service and a phone online. If I had bought this at a local retailer, it would have been working within 30 mins tops. But here I sit typing this after a four day ordeal and the added frustration of talking to someone halfway around the world, a language barrier and add to that the delay in transmission time when both parties talk, leading to a very confusing conversation. I say send all of these online stores a messege by sending phones back and not doing business with them. I'd rather pay for good service, than suffer for free! IMO.

Hi Jodi

There's two parts to connecting to a wireless phone network - the phone, and the network. The SIM card is a uniquely numbered ID chip that facilitates your phone
  1. Connecting to the network, and
  2. Identifying who you are and what account you're associated with.
If the phone is saying SIM card not provisioned, that likely means that the card is not associated with an account with the network. When your friend sold you the phone, they will almost certainly have updated their account so that that particular phone is no longer on the account. (Unless they were intending for you to be on their account after you bought the phone)

In that likely case, you'll need to contact the carrier, either on another phone or at one of the carrier's brick & mortar store fronts, and talk to them about associating the phone with an account. If you already have an account there, it'll likely just be a matter of registering / activating the phone, and possibly putting a new SIM card in it. Likely as not, some activation fees so that they can extract money from you. If you don't have an account there, you'll need to set one up and select plans, as needed, for voice, messaging, and data. Depending on the phone type, it may be usable on several networks. There are a couple of different network protocols, and the phone hardware will generally be built for one type. An AT&T phone, for instance, will not work on Verizon, since the network protocols are different.

It is best to get in touch with your service provider in case the bandwidth is not supported by the phone which is not mentioned by you.
Also check the SIM on another phone to confirm and vice versa.

On my Cricket Samsung phone, I cannot send or receive text messages (always says 'message undeliverable). I already reset my phone and updated it. No use. I can place calls fine, but the text issue is...

What model is that samsung phone? Is it a full flash phone or a actual crikcet phone? Usually when its undeliverable. You want to call cricket and have them make sure your texting feature is activated or provisioned properly on the switch.

Didnt change anything, phone sim, or anything else but phone says SIM not provisioned MM2

that usually means the sim card has not been activated your provider and have them make sure the sim in your phone is the one listed on your account

Your smartchip apparently isn't active with your cellphone service company. Are you certain that the chip you have installed in the phone is the one that your cell service gave you currently? You mentioned putting minutes on your phone, so I'm assuming you have a pre-paid plan. You must have a smartchip that's specifically set up for that type of service.

Call AT&T to get this error resolved, it's an activation error from a new phone or new SIM card.

Perhaps the SIM card is corrupted, or somehow defective. The best you could do is bring it to the AT&T store and have them troubleshoot or replace it.
