I have a studio 1749 my problem started after i removed the keyboard to clean it because of the dusty enviroment i work in. After putting the board back in i noticed the entire 2 bottom rows of keys didnt...

it's more likely you haven't put the ribbon cable back properly. try removing the keyboard again and reinsert the ribbon cable carefully - remeber there is a bable grip that needs to opened to remove the cable and closed again after insertion to maintain contact

Dell Studio 17 Laptop - all keys are locked....can't even type in password to log in for diagnostic

Hi,

Unplug the mouse. Boot into the bios and see if the keyboard will work there. If it will. exit the bios. As soon as you see the Dell splash screen start tapping the F8 key and boot inot safe mode. See if the keyboard will work in safe mode. If it will that means you have a driver conflict in normal mode.

If neither of these options work, Contact Dell to get the system either

A. Onsite repair

B. Replace the system.

Also try.....1) disconnect A/C power supply, 2) remove battery, 3) press and hold the "power on" button for between 15 to 30 seconds, 4) re-install the battery, 5) re-start the laptop.

Dell Studio 17 laptop : keyboard response sporadic.

Possibly a failed keyboard (was there a liquid spill?), loose keyboard cable or failed system board. Call Dell support, if your warranty is expired keyboard should be about $40-75, system board can be $200-600 depending on model and availiability of the part.

How do I replace the keyboard on my Dell Studio 1737 laptop?

Underneath your laptop there should be to screws with a small logo of a keyboard remove the screws then gently lift the keybord with caution as there maybe some retaining clips holding it in place, then remove the cable by sliding the retaining clip out, then repeat the steps to fix the new one in place

How do i access the function keys on the studio 17

I do not use studio but I do use Dell Inspiron.

In order to access the function keys look for a unique button on your keyboard. In my laptop its "Fn" its colored blue and the function buttons are also colored blue(they are underneath some other buttons), so if I want to access the functions button I have to hold the FN button and then press the switch that also has the function button.

For example:
1. the button "Q" has "F1" under it
2. So I have to hold FN and then press Q to access F1

This should be similar to your laptop

Ejecting cd dell studio 17

Supposing that the Studio 15 / 17 has a slot loading drive:

You can either press the eject button above the keyboard (the touch sensitive one)

or

Go to 'Computer' in Vista and right click the CD/DVD drive. Then click 'Eject'.

This should work.
