Cd\dvd drive won't read software cd

How to Remove Replace Install your Acer Aspire 5738Z Laptop CD/DVD Optical Drive

1. Check to see if your laptop requires a screws to be removed for the optical drive.

2. Find the CD/DVD Optical Drive release button.

3. Pull out your Acer Aspire CD/DVD Optical Drive.

4. Get your new replacement Acer Aspire CD/DVD Optical Drive and place it securely into the drive slot.

The CD/DVD drive may need reseating to make proper electrical connection. Remove this drive and insert it back into the laptop.
Next try cleanibg the drive.
The laser lens maybe dirty, use a CD/DVD lens cleaning kit to clean the lens int the drive.
If this does not fix your problem then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and needs to be replaced.

hello experts,
i have an acer 4741 z laptop. MY cd drive reads a few pre recorded cds but not all....in my device manager under cd/dvd-rom drives it shows HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT30N
is there a driver i need to install or a patch or???/

Try opening your disk tray and cleaning the lens with a tissue and all of the drive from dust. If it still won't read you may have to buy a new optical drive as your current one has broken.

is it a blank cd? if so try going to the start menu my computer right click on drive (E:) properties and make sure writing on this device is enabled if its not a blank cd but a copied one it may be the disk thats the problem not your computer. if its a shop brought music cd copyright protected it may not read it because of copyright laws!!! if its like this with all cds then you laser may be faulty

Try an external DVD drive that you can connect to your USB port. The drive you have in the laptop either has a dirty laser lens, which you can carefully clean with a "Q" and alcohol, or the laser itself may be going out. The drive can be replaced. You mentioned you have a cd-rom. If you can play movies (DVD) it is more likely a DVD drive instead of a cd-rom. CD-ROMs can only read data or music.

No Sir, Acer Aspire 4330 comes with different Optical Media Loadings, ( You can see a pdf file here )
Like;

• DVD/CD-RW combo drive
• 8X DVD-Super Multi double-layer drive.

But you have the first one, The Combo drive not the super so you can READ both CD's DVD's but can write only CD's.

2. Uninstall magic iso
3. Use a good anti-virus and scan all your hard drives.
Reconnect your CD/DVD. Verify if it works.
4.If not, right-clic "My computer", manage, select disk manager, assign a different drive letter to all drives but C:. Reboot. Verify.
5. Lastly, make a backup, reformat all your drives, reinstall Windows.

Hey, your laptop cd / dvd drive can only read and burn CD's and only read DVD, it can't burn dvd.
