My Coby MP600 will not play video

I have converted video files to MTV format using the MTV video converter that is connected to the Coby website. When I put them into the Movie Folder on my Coby MP600, nothing happens. The videos do not play. I have also downloaded another MTV converter and tried that, but I have the same problem - the videos won't play on the Coby MP600. What can I do to get the videos to play?

My Coby mp601 8gb won't play the converted mtv videos, says "format not recognized", what's up with that???

Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX. If your player cannot play a video then it is anincompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video file to aformat that your MP3 player uses. I have copied several videos to my mp600 but I can`t see them. Do I need a special software? Where I can download it?

Coby's can only play videos in .MTV format (nothing to do with the cable channel that use to show music videos). So if you copy .WMV, .MP4, .RM, .MOV, they will not play.

There are some program that I had not used on the Internet that can convert video files to .MTV format. Do a search through a search engine for them

Good luck.

I put all kind of videos on the coby mp610-2g mp3 but icant watch

Hello,

Your Coby MP-610 Player is capable of viewing MTV file formats with maximum video resolution of 160 x 128.

There are many MTV video converters available on the net but i strongly recommend the E.M. Video Converter by eTinySoft to convert your movies into MTV format and play it on your Coby MP-610.

Don't forget to rate.

My coby mp600-2g does not play video. After uploading it to my player and turning it on, all it does is freeze when selecting the video.  It shows the "play" symbol in the bottom left corner and then...

I had the same problem with playback of video with coby mp60-2g, and it took a couple of weeks to figure out. I wasted a lot of time installing video file converters, and trying to convert my wmv files to MTV,.... it wasn't necessary!
The Coby Media Manager software that comes with the device actually works for converting wmv files (for example) to mtv files. It's just a little confusing HOW IT WORKS. Unfortunately the 'Coby Media Manager User Guide' is very little help.
The key really is 'Synchronizing' your video to your player! But there's a little organizing of your files to do before-hand, which makes it easier when your ready to playback on your device.
For me it was easier to separate my audio files from my movie files in the 'Device' tab of the Coby Media Manger. This was the 'F:' of the Device content (middle third of the manager window) for me. I put the videos in the MOVIE.DIR folder. But you can't synchronize the video here. You must click on the 'Movies' tab on the left side of the manager window.
Under Movies, go to Library,... (now it gets a little confusing),.... immediately under 'Library', there is a 'Folder',....but that only shows what you have selected by clicking on the 'Video Folder', a little further down and slightly to the right.
So you must make your selection ('Import' video files and folders) by clicking on the 'Video Folder'! When you click on this Video Folder, you'll open a selection box, which offers
-Documents
-Music
-Pictures
-Videos
-C:\
-F:\
If you select only 'Videos', it will automatically select 'C:\', also.Which will import ALL of your videos on your C:\
If you select only 'F:\', it will only import the videos which you have put (as I suggested earlier) in the 'MOVIE.DIR' folder at the 'Device' tab.

NOW TO SYNCHRONIZE,....! (make sure you mp3 is connected to your computer).
You might notice, that if the device (mp600) already contains the file, then there will be a small icon which looks like the mp3, next to the file under the 'status' column.
BUT that doesn't mean that the mp3 will actually 'play' the video. It must ALSO be 'Synchronized', :o).
Once you've made it this far, Synchronizing is easy. Let's assume that you decided to Import all of the videos in C:\, and F:\ when you clicked on the 'Video Folder'.
Now if you go back up to 'Folders', and click on it ALL of your video files will be dislpayed. And the files which are already on your device will have the mp3 icon next to them. Also, when you clicked on 'Folders', additional sub- folders were displayed under the Folders icon.
The easy way to 'Synchronize', is to select the F: folder, with a 'right click',... which gives you the synchronize option,... clicking 'Synchronize' will synchronize-convert-copy all of the video files in the folder! Now, if you go back to the 'Device' tab and look at the video files, you'll see they have all been to converted to mtv files!
Now when you open your mp600, and arrow to 'Movies', you'll be able to play your videos!!

Trying to get file videoconverter_v2.12.00 onto computer

You can go to the coby website they have a zip file download with converter....Just download it and install.I find however that you may have some issues converting .avi files.I think its because avi is a container not really a formatt of such...so not all .avi files are the same.Try converting from .mov format ..That is Quicktimes format.

I had to recode or reconvert my downloaded youtube .flv video from .avi to .mov before the MTV Video converter would work right. The output file will be a .mtv file.So try using .mov files instead of .avi.

Coby mp610 2g mtv unknown format

Hey try to get the video file you are converting to .mtv to convert to .mov first.I had the same problems until I tried it that way.Someone else somewhere says mpg is a good format that the converter will read well and convert properly.I never tried it though. However I find that .avi files will give you problems. This is because .avi is a container not a format.

Also remember Youtube videos download as flv files and if you use MediaCoder like I do,to convert from flv to .avi you will have problems because the actual format will be Xvid and the container .avi.

fFor the sys err problem..visit the Coby USA website ...there is a firmware fix there. The actual link is on this site in another Coby mp 610 question.

I hope this works...let us know
