That cd button is for an external changer that you must install yourself. once you install the the changer then all you have to do is press that button and through the circuit you can get your cd music.in order to install the changer you have to purchase a link cable to the the vehicle from the changer. you will not have to cut or splic any wires at all get the connector cable and the changer and once installed your all set. the plug in for the changer is in the trunk of the vehicle. now you will not have access to insert the cds while driving because that is not how the system works in a conventional sense like a cd stereo does

My radio doesn't have a cd but there is a button marked cd. Is it possible there is wiring in the trunk for the cd changer i have?

Usually they don't do that. We have a 1998 Ford Taurus that has the button for the cd but no wiring for a cd changer in the trunk. You can check for yourself if you like.

We can't get the factory 6 disc cd player to load more than 1 disc. What is the sequence for loading additional discs?

The following is the owner's manual for your 2004 Dodge Neon:

http://www.dodge.com/en/owners/manuals/index.html?year=2004&nameplate=Neon

P.99 describes how to load discs:

1. Select and press any numbered button without an illuminated light above it.
2. Insert the CD while the light above the chosen button is flashing and the two lights on either side of the slot are illuminated.
3. Upon insertion, the CD will begin to play, and both the button light and the lights in the corner of the loading slot will illuminate.
4. Repeat the process for loading any additional CDs. The CD playe rwill stop while additional CDs are loaded.

Playing Discs
The radio will show the CD number, the CD track number, and the Track Time Elapsed while the radio is in the CD mode. IF more than one CD is loaded in the changer, the changer will automatically play the next disc after playing the last track of the current disc.

Wow, that's a lot of typing.
I didn't know the 2004 Dodge Neon had such a nice changer.
Good luck.

I'm looking to do do 2 things with my 99 Taurus LX Sedan...replace the original Stereo with 99 that has a CD player or add Cd changer...which is more practical? Also where is the fuse for Cigerette...

buy a single cd/radio,that way you will not carry hundreds of dollars worth of discs around, also get one where you can plug in your mp3 player in,then you will not need discs, which are now obsolete anyway.

2003 Ford Expositi CD Player will not play or eject

Does the CD door open or is it stuck open? If it is open look to see if you have a jammed CD. This happened to me and this is what I did. A CD had gotten off track and jammed the CD changer turn table. I stuck a little key in the slot and was able to pull the CD out. This fixed my problem. Hope it helps.

How do you clear a CD changer error code on a 1998 Ford Taurus radio? The radio displays DJ (probably for disc jam). There are no CDs in the changer. I cannot get the CD player to power-up because of the...

You can look in your owners manual, usually there is a little card in there that gives you your radio code to push into the radio, If not you can call your local Ford dealership and give them your VIN number of the car and they can give it to you. also if you wanted to go to the extreme measure you can pull out the radio from the dash and most of the time the code is printed on the radio.

Good Luck I hope this helps.

Can not find where to plug CD player to the harness

does the radio have cd changer controlls? if so you may find the wires in the trunk if not you will have to buy a harness from ford and make sure the cd changer will work with the stock radio. Call the local ford dealer parts dep but make sure you have the vin number from the car with that they can look up the car and tell you what options where installed from the factory and can order the correct cable
