Question about Apple MacBook Pro PC Notebook
I have a Macbook Pro running leopard. My mac goes from gray apple screen to a blank black screen and stays there. I'm not sure what is going on. I have recently removed my boot camp partition as well as downloaded updates since the last time I have restarted so I'm not sure if that is conflicting. I tried booting in safe mode and nothing helps.
The next step would be to boot in "Target mode" and for that you will need a fire wire 400 cable and another Mac. Connect the MB Pro to the other (working) Mac and restart the MBP while holding the letter "T" on the keyboard, that will allow you to see the HD of the non-responsive MBP (orange color drive shown in Finder) from there you can do a premissions repair and see the HD. Most likely from what you describe, the issue is the HD in your MBP. I have fixed a few of those problems by running TechTools Pro via Target Mode. Hope that helps!

Try booting into single user mode by pressing Command+S while booting. You should then be at a prompt. Type in:
and press Return. Let it run and see if it corrects any filesystem issues, then reboot when it's done.
