My xbox360 has been repaired by a technician who charged me US$100. My fan is working ok the console has been tested by me for many hours of playing the reason he gave me is that 1 of the cpu attached to the fan went down and was replaced , to which I am not satisfied. I told him that there must be a disconnected cable of the fan but he said that there was no disconnection and the fan supply comes from the cpu.

If your box never has been open you could send to MS for repair but since it is not the 3red rings error. They will charge you I think. You'll have to call and tell them your problem. If you want to fix the problem yourself you are going to have to open the box. Once you have it open you got to check the fan. Look and see if any wires came lose, disconnected or burnt up. If they seem ok check the clip attached to the motherboard. Just follow the wires on the fans. Pull the clip out push it back in. This is to make sure clip is in tight. You dont have to put the 360 back together to test the fans. Plug the power in and the video cable and boot it up. If it works great if not your going to have to buy replacement fans.

The fan is NOT connected to the CPU it is connected to the motherboard! The CPU and the GPU are the 2 Chips on your motherboard that have the heat sinks attached to them. They run the 360 Graphics and Processes. Don't deal with that guy anymore he is bad news brother.

After playing a game for 5 min. or less playing on an xbox 360, the screen turns off and the xbox has 2 red lights on the ring of light the console is still on and the controller is still doing what it was...

2 red lights is overheating, try giving it a dust out and if this does not work you will need to stop the heat build up inside.

To do this you can send it in or use a good Xbox 360 Repair guide to fix it.

Hey i have 2 red lights on my xbox 360 on the left side can u help

The unit is over heating , if the fan quickly goes
to full speed you have an air gap in the C.P.U. heat sink
The fix is to re-seat the heat sink to the chip . This is done
by applying even pressure on the heat-sink and turning it on
to see if you have good contact. and repeat till the fan speed
drops .

If you have any questions just comment and ill respond.

2 red lights

Your xbox is overheating.
1. Let your Xbox 360 console cool. You may have to wait several hours for your console to cool enough. Don't turn on your Xbox 360 console when the console is hot. 2. Verify that your Xbox 360 console has enough ventilation and that the fans are operating. 3. If the two lights continue to flash after trying the above steps, you'll need to contact Xbox Customer Support.

What does 2 flashing lights mean on an xbox 360?

The two red flashing lights on the left side of the circle indicate the thermal limit has been reached. (over-heating) Check to see if the fan on the back of the unit is blowing air. There are external fans that can be added to keep the GPU. (Graphics Processing Unit) and CPU (Central Processing Unit) temp down. Keeping the temp down can prevent the dreaded RRD. (Red Ring of Death) Here is link as an example of a cooling fan.
Shop around and find one that you like. Remember, when it comes to these computer chips, cooler is safer.

360 issues

Two Red Lights

The two left quadrants of the Ring of Light flash red on the front of the Xbox 360 console
This behavior occurs when the internal temperature of the console exceeds the acceptable limits. You may think of this as too hot, overheating, and so on. Make sure the fans are operating and the system has adequate ventilation.

Since you've been inside it's possible that a heatsink or some other part of the cooling system is not working properly or is loose. Check all these!

Good Luck!

Xbox 360 red lights

2 red lights flashing is'nt too bad of a deal. just reposition your xbox 360 to a place where more airflow can get to it. plus, dont have anything that gives off heat near the xbox 360, thats vary important to give it room for cool air. it worked for me
