Question about Olevia LT23HVX 23 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

Power indicator on, but nothing else

I just bought a used Olevia LT23HVX 23inch TV. It is in excellent shape physically. It had no power cord, so I used one from my computer monitor. When I hit the power button a red indicator light comes on, but that is it. I have no remote either. I don't want to invest in a remote unless I know the tv works. Is there something else I can do to see if it works? I am not familiar with these TV's so I don't know if I have to have cable connected to it for it to do anything. Is this normal? I have it my office where I have no cable/satelite. Thanks for any help you can offer

I ended up taking it to a repair shop. It cost me $150. They said it was due to a power surge. For all I know it was nothing- but it sure works now.

I have the same problem. The only way to get it to power on is connecting a USB cable to the service port

I have the same issue with my Olevia 27 inch HD LCD, the power went out one day and that was the end of my TV....there is a blue light on the power button but I get no picture no sound, nothing. I tried unplugging everything and then hooking it up again...nothing. I've had the TV for less than 2 years and would not recommend this brand to anyone, not worth saving a few bucks if your just gonna have to buy another TV in a year or two.

We just bought a Olevia 237T four months ago. The blue power light is now flashing on the front of the TV. It will not supply a picture or sound when we push the power button on the tv or remote. It is receiving power (blue light flashing). No lightning strikes involved. Contacted Olevia and they said it most likely is the main circuit board not "clicking" over to supply the picture and sound. Anyone have any easy fixes? It does have a USB port. I take it the other end goes to your CPU? Sounds a little strange. Any help would be great.

I also have the same problem with my LT23HVX tv set. I tried talking to Olevia tech support for over an hour and they "dropped" my call 3 times. After the the third attempt I finally got a hold on a rep that I could actually understand the words that were coming out of his mouth. But that did not help, since I've had my set for 14 months, it was out of their warranty. Beware if u buy an Olevia set, you are buying a disposable tv, that would last a little over a year. I tried the phone charger fix, and nothing happened.

Plug a cell phone charger in the service port on the back. The charger does fix the power problem. I did contact Olevia tech support after 2+ hours on the phone and they had not heard of the charger solution and did not recommend it but when the warrenty is out "what the hey". They did sell me a new power board which I installed and that fixed the problem. $50 and return the old one. Need to be familiar with computers or electronics to do yourself.

Try unplugging and replugging after waiting.

what kind of cable are you connecting with? If you are using a Composite or S-Video cable perhaps you may want to use the VGA cable instead and see if that corrects the issue.

Red lite comes on but tv will not power up.

Follow the solution for service port 'jump start' with a usb plug. Plug your cell phone charger in next to the TV. Touch the metal prongs of the service port with the metal part of the usb until you get a brief 'flash' on the TV. Then turn on the tv set. It takes patience and a flash light to do this, so you can see what your touching, as my husband couldn't get it to work, but I could.

I posted photos and a description of my solution for this problem here: There's another thread on FixYa dealing with this same issue that has a variety of solutions as well.

It uses a regular power cord, the kind that you would use for a PC.
