Ssl2006 sylvania TV goes dim and turns off within 5 seconds when turned on

When i turn on my ssl2006 sylvania tv, within 5 seconds the tv dims and then turns off. I haven't used this tv very much and not sure why this is happening. Can someone please help me!

    my sylvania ssl2006 goes dim and turns off within about 10 seconds. I have only had this tv for 1 year and it is only 13 days out of warranty.

    I was given a SSL2006, and it turns on for about 10 minutes the first time, then shuts down. Turning the power on again allows it to work for another 10-30 seconds before shutting down again. Almost like something overheats?

    I have had a 20" SSL2006 for 2 years and tonight it just started dimming and powering off. Changed out power source (switched plugs) and replaced batteries in remote........looked online and found this site.....:(

Your TV is suffering from LEDs not lighting. Remember the Christmas lights, one goes out, and rest are out. In some cases you can purchase these lamps in strips. Lately it has been difficult to obtain these. It is very time consuming to replace and repair this TV. Thanks for asking, Matt of Martins TV.

TV dims after about 1 minute of turning it on. After turning tv on, it seems to dim a bit (not enough to really be noticeable) but it dims.
sounds like you tv has a light sensor in it.If the room is too bright it goes dim.

Hi larry
Since you know electronics that will make the explanation simpler;
On your tv model there is a very common problem that you may want to look at;
There is a small board on the right hand side(backlight inverter board),
Look for a shorted D309 , it is a 9.1volts 1watt zener diode.
As i said it is a common problem for your model.
But there is also the power supply;
All lcd tv`s nowadays it seems end up with bad capacitors in the power supply,
You can recognize them by their rounded tops and you`ll find them at the output of the power supply along the 5/12 and 24volts line.
But especially on the 5 volts line.
If your not sure which ones then replace them all (there might be 6 or 7 of them) it won`t hurt and eventually they will go anyway.

It's likely that the TV will require service since your troubleshooting steps didn't resolve the problem. If your TV is smaller than 30", you may carry it in to the retailer of purchase for repairs. Otherwise, service for your TV can be obtained by calling 1-888-237-8289 in the U.S. or 1-866-237-8289 in Canada.
