It could be your adobe acrobat reader responsible for PDF documents

If you can print using other applications definitely it has nothing to do with printer.

Unintstall the acrobat reader software from your PC in ARP (add remove programs)

What is acrobat reader?

Adobe Acrobat is a family of computer programs developed by Adobe Systems, designed to view, create, manipulate and manage files in Adobe's

Plug-in from Adobe. It reads documents in PDF format on any platform.

A program from Adobe that lets you capture a document and then view it in its original format and appearance

Adobe has changed the names of the products in the Acrobat family regularly, also splitting-up, joining, or discontinuing products. Between version 3 and 5, Standard and Professional versions were one product simply called Adobe Acrobat.
As of October 2009[update], the current main members of the Adobe Acrobat family are:
64px-adobe_reader.svg.png magnify-clip.pngAdobe Reader 8/9 Icon
  • Adobe Reader 9 (Windows, Mac and Unix)
  • Adobe Acrobat 9 (Windows & Mac only; no Unix version)
    • Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard
    • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro
    • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended (includes Adobe Presenter)

The latest version
Version 9.0 Adobe Acrobat 9.0 was released July 2008:[10][11]
  • PDF version 1.7 (and prior) supported. There are Adobe extensions to PDF 1.7 for Acrobat 9.
  • Product Family includes: Acrobat Standard 9 (Windows only), Acrobat Pro 9, Acrobat Pro Extended 9 (Windows only).
  • Pro Extended Version includes Adobe Presenter and the features of Acrobat 3D.
  • The ability to create Acroforms was restored to Acrobat Standard in this release (in versions 6 through 8, Acrobat Professional was required).
  • Enable real-time collaboration of PDFs with synchronized document views and chat.
  • Improved Web Capture for capturing entire web pages or just some parts into PDF.
  • Integration with acrobat.com to enable storage and sharing of PDF files.
  • Personalize a PDF Portfolio with customizable templates for navigation and branding.
  • Compare and highlight the differences between two versions of a PDF document.
  • Insert FLV (Flash) or H.264 video for direct playback in Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader.
  • Convert a variety of video formats to FLV for playback in PDF.
  • Create PDF maps by importing geospatial files that retain metadata and coordinates.
  • OCR PDFs (Paper Capture) using ClearScan. Adobe ClearScan technology creates custom Type1-CID fonts to match the visual appearance of a scanned document after optical character recognition (OCR). ClearScan does not replace the fonts with your system fonts or substitute them by Type1-MM (as in Acrobat 8 and earlier versions), but uses these newly created custom fonts. The custom fonts are embedded in the PDF file (this is obviously mandatory). If the OCR does not recognize a word with enough confidence, then the image (bitmap) of the word is shown in the PDF and the text is put above but hidden (same as what is made in "Searchable Image" mode).
  • Adobe Reader 9 drops support for Adobe Reader Extensions 5 and 6 which permit Adobe Reader client software to save changes to filled-in forms in PDFs. Adobe Reader Extensions 6.1 and newer are still supported. Legacy PDFs will still be viewable, however they will open with the warning "This document enables Reader capabilities that are no longer enabled in this Reader version."[12]
  • On March 10, 2009, Adobe Reader 9.1 was released which addresses a number of customer workflow issues and a critical security vulnerability while providing more stability.[13]
  • On May 12, 2009, Adobe Reader 9.1.1 was released which addresses two critical security vulnerabilities.[14]
  • On June 9, 2009, update version 9.1.2 was released which addresses a number of critical security vulnerabilities.[15]
  • On July 31, 2009, update version 9.1.3 was released which addresses a number of critical security vulnerabilities.[16]
  • On October 14, 2009, Adobe Acrobat 9.2 was released (added support for Windows 7 x86/x64 and fixed many security issues).[17]
  • On January 12, 2010, Adobe Reader 9.3 was released which addresses a number of critical security vulnerabilities.[18]
  • On February 16, 2010, Adobe Acrobat 9.3.1 was released which addresses two critical security vulnerabilities.[19]
  • On April 13, 2010, Adobe Acrobat 9.3.2 was released which addresses several critical security vulnerabilities.[20]

I keep getting messages ..could not find acrobat External windows handler; . brand is e machines ..error messages,,

Hi Kate1958. I found this for you. Do one or more of the following solutions:
Solution 1: Remove all versions of Acrobat or Reader, and then reinstall one version.
If multiple versions of Acrobat or Reader are installed on the system, remove all versions and then install only one version. See the documentation included with Windows for information about removing programs.
Note: If you need to have multiple versions of an Acrobat product installed, remove all versions and then reinstall them starting with the earliest, installing the latest version last.
Solution 2: Start Acrobat or Reader, and then open the PDF file in the web browser.
If an error occurs when you try to start Acrobat or Reader, refer to Related Documents below, or search the Adobe Support Knowledgebase:
-- If you use Acrobat, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrobat.html .
-- If you use Reader, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html .
Solution 3: Make sure that the External Window Handler file (ewh32.api) is in the Plug-ins folder.
If this file is missing, reinstall Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
The default location of the Plug-ins folder is:
-- For Acrobat: Program FilesAdobeAcrobat [version]Acrobat
-- For Reader: Program FilesAdobeAcrobat [version]Reader
Solution 4: Disable Web Browser Integration.
Disable Web Browser Integration so that PDF files open directly in Acrobat or Reader instead of in the web browser.
To disable Web Browser Integration in Acrobat 6.0.x -7.0.x or Reader 6.0.x -7.0.x:
1. Open Acrobat or Reader.
2. Choose Edit > Preferences > Internet.
3. Deselect Display PDF in Browser.
4. Click OK.
To disable Web Browser Integration in Acrobat 5.x or Acrobat Reader 5.x:
1. Open Acrobat or Acrobat Reader.
2. Choose Edit > Preferences > General.
3. Click Options in the list in the Preferences dialog box.
4. Deselect Display PDF in Browser.
5. Click OK.
To disable Web Browser Integration in Acrobat 4.x or Acrobat Reader 4.x:
1. Open Acrobat or Acrobat Reader.
2. Choose File > Preferences > General.
3. Deselect Web Browser Integration in the General Preferences dialog box.
4. Click OK.
I hope this helps. Please dont forget to rate and provide positive feedback for our fast-free support today. Thank you :D

Click Save Now and your file is enabled with the four items described above. You need Acrobat Professional for all enabling features. These commands are not available to Acrobat Standard users (Acrobat Standard available for Windows only in Acrobat 8). When you select the Enable Usage Rights for Adobe Reader menu command and click Save Now all enabling features are added to the PDF.

Can't save Adobe Acrobat 9 fillable forms

Fill in an interactive pdf form After you fill in the form fields, do any of the following:
  • Click the submit form button. Clicking this button sends the form data to a database across the web or over your company intranet.
  • In Acrobat, choose File > Save As, and rename the file to save the form with the data you entered.
  • In Reader, choose File > Save A Copy, and specify a location for the copy. Note: If the form author gave Reader users extended rights, the saved copy will include the entries you made in the form. Otherwise, the saved copy will be blank.
Enable Adobe Acrobat Reader users to save form data Ordinarily, Reader users can’t save filled-in copies of forms that they complete. However, you can extend rights to users of Reader 8 and later so they can do so. In Acrobat Pro and Pro Extended, these rights also include the ability to add comments, use the Typewriter tool, and digitally sign the PDF.
  1. Open a single PDF, or preview a component PDF in a PDF Portfolio.
  2. If you are editing the form, click Close Form Editing in the upper-right corner of the form.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • (Acrobat Pro and Pro Extended) Choose Advanced > Extend Features In Adobe Reader.
    • (Acrobat Standard only) Choose Advanced > Extend Forms Fill-In & Save In Adobe Reader.
These extended privileges are limited to the current PDF. When you create a different PDF form, you must perform this task again to enable Reader users to save their own filled-in copies of that PDF.
If you don’t want recipients to overwrite the blank form template by saving form data, do not extend rights in the copy you send to them.

Limitations on saving filled-in forms locally

Acrobat Standard, Acrobat Pro, and Acrobat Pro Extended each allow Adobe Reader 8 or later users to fill in and save PDF forms locally. The use of the Reader Extensions capability for local saving of PDF forms (called extended documents) is limited in two ways:
Number of deployed extended documents An Acrobat Standard, Acrobat Pro, or Acrobat Pro Extended customer can send an extended document to an unlimited number of recipients for them to fill in. For example, an Acrobat customer can post an empty form template on a web page that allows users to fill in and save PDF forms locally. An unlimited number of people can access the template. However, the Acrobat customer can collect only 500 responses from the filled-in form. This limitation includes both hardcopy (paper form submission) and electronic representations of the filled-in form.
Number of recipients of the extended document An Acrobat Standard, Acrobat Pro, or Acrobat Pro Extended customer can send an extended document to no more than 500 unique recipients. For example, an Acrobat customer belongs to an organization with 500 people or less. The Acrobat customer can send an unlimited number of copies of the extended document to those 500 recipients and collect unlimited responses from the filled-in form.
Both limitations apply per entity/company, and multiple users in an entity cannot abuse this feature. Obtaining additional licenses to use Acrobat Standard, Acrobat Pro, and Acrobat Pro Extended does not increase the above restrictions. For example, five Acrobat Standard 9 users in a company cannot send out the same extended document to receive and extract data collectively more than 500 times.
Acrobat Standard, Acrobat Pro, and Acrobat Pro Extended include technology that can enable PDF documents with certain features by using a digital credential. This credential is located within the Software (“Key”). You agree not to access, attempt to access, control, disable, remove, distribute the Key for any purpose.

I hope it helps.

Go to My Computer. Tools > Folder Options > File Types > Then Browse PDF Registered File Type . If you can see " Details for PDF extension " and you can see a change button, you can click that button and browse for your Acrobat Pro main program .
