Once you have installed and setup a multi-tray printer you might like to try to print a document to different printer trays. Open a word document and create a two page document.
Select your new printer under file->Print (if it's not the default)
Click the page layout tab
Click the small triangle at the bottom right
Open the page setup dialog box and click the page Paper Tab
Choose a tray for the first page and other pages. Close the dialog box and print.

What do you mean by copies? Like printing 1 page in more than 1 copy?
In the Print dialog box (when you click the File => Print command), You can increase the number of copies to be printed in just one printing.
If your printer is multi-function (one printer that can scan, copy, and print), just place the document to be copied (photocopy) in the scanner tray, cover it and then PRESS the OK. In some models, it is MONO or COLOR under START button group.
You load the originals print side uo on the document feeder tray or print side down on the glass.
To send a single page fax you can either load the original on document feeder tray or on the glass; to send a multi-page fax you must use the document feeder tray.
The position of the paper is the same either you copy, fax or scan.
All this is clearly explained in the user's manual, that you should read and you can download from HP support pages for you printer:
Turn the documents printed page away from you. (Document facing you, turn it around so that the print is on the backside)
Insert it in the top paper feed tray. Align the left side of the document page, with the alignment bar on the left side of the top paper feed tray. (Put the left side of the paper against the plastic bar on the left side of the paper tray)
Computer running, Windows loaded. Go to Start>Hover your mouse cursor on All Programs>Lexmark>Lexmark Printer
Click on the Copy function, and go to the Properties window to set how many copies you want, (Default setting is 1), what size paper you're using, and so on.
Are we talking about a paper feed problem from the paper cassette tray or the Auto Document feeder on the top. Either way, check the the paper width guides, or if it is the paper cassette tray, remove it and check the paper pick up roller locking clips.
