My fuji finepix f10 camera lens does not open.there is a clicking sound whe i press the on button and the red light fully charged button comes on when i plug the charger into the mains. have tried new battery but no good. As the lens will not open the camera does not power up. help

I've just bought this camera off ebay and after purchasing noticed that it was going to come without a lens cap. After a bit of searching i found this link - it's not an official fugi one but it says it's for this camera.

Hi Jasmine,

With fresh batteries inserted in your camera, try to do this little trick:

1. Hold the camera on your right hand with the lens facing the ground.

2. As you press the power on button, tap or hit the camera's base to your left palm. Do this several times.

Chances are, there could be a sand or granule of dust that got stuck on the sides of the lens, preventing it to retract properly.
