Coby DVD-206 The other night a DVD was really scratched and we had to take it out. The DVD player turned off and know when you go to turn it on.. the power won't come on. The button just stays red and you can't turn it on with the button on the player or remote? What can I do to fix this?

My coby dvd player will not load dvds. After trying to load, I get a message that says "Wrong Disc". I have tried to put in other dvds, but get the same response. These dvds work in our other dvd...
its probably the laser is misaligned. somtimes you can maually reset it by takeing the disc out and sliding the "eye" toward the center. this will possibly break it, but a misaligned laser is not going to work so you;ve got nothing to lose. put in a disc you know is good, no scratches, and turn it on again.

  1. Turn on the player (without a disc inserted)
  2. Press STOP 2 x
  3. Press SUBTITLE 5x
  4. Press the button for the desired RC (0=codefree)

The lasers are sometimes weak on the Coby DVD players. They can easily be scratched or become dirty. You can try to get a DVD lens cleaner or try and wipe it off with a very soft cloth. Do not use toilet paper or paper towels because they can leave particles on the lens and even scratch it worse than it is. If that does not work the lens can be completely scratched or the DVD can be scratched and can not be read.
