Vcr timed recordings

Hi, Know this is pretty stupid, but am wondering if I can do timed VHS recordings with this equipment. The manual refers to one touch recording, but we like to set the timer and record stuff in the middle of the night. I haven't opened the box beyond getting out the manual. Thanks for your help.

Timed recording is stuck on channel 3. No matter what channel I program the timed recording for it always records channel 3. The exception is if I set it to record L1 (line input 1), then it record properly from the cable box I have connected there.

I can set the timer to start and stop recording; however, whether I have it set to channel 3 or to the channel I want to record, all I get is snow.

We all said we had the vcr set up right and record without the timer. Thus dodgecharger did not answer the questions on how to get timed recording working. Did he read the questions???

I'd be pretty certain that every VCR made these days (and of the last 10-15+ years) can be set to do a timed recording. They can be set for a one time recording, weekly or daily record. Whether used with a cable/satellite box, or outside antenna, you must ensure proper hookup. I'm not real familiar with recent cable/sat receiver boxes, but older ones had to be set to the channel you wanted to record, as the VCR will only see that channel. On older cable (no cable box) & outdoor antenna systems, a VCR could tune in and record any channel, while you watched another one. Anyway, check the capability of the cable/sat box, and follow suggested hookup. You will likely need to set the box to the channel you want to record before you retire for the night.
