Hello porter401,

I'm assuming that you are talking about the primary power fuse installed on the wire bringing current from the battery. Most amp manufacturers specify the value for the primary fuse, I don't know why Hitron didn't tell you that.

Here is a very good discussion about properly sizing the primary power fuse.

Going by the power output of your amp, and the amount of current it needs to draw, you'll need a fuse in the range of 30-40 amp. I'd start with a 30 and if the amp blows it frequently/more than once/ immediately on power up, then move up to the 40.

Hope this helps. If it does, please rate as "FixYa".

Hitron hra-2500b amp turns on then turns off

Make sure that you are not over loading the amp. Example - if your amp is only rated for 8 ohm then you can not wire the speakers for a 4 ohm.

I need to install a power converter in my truck. Can any one help me with the basics? Please get back to me. Keith

What is it exactly that you want to accomplish? It looks like this unit is powered by the electrical system of your truck, but if it indeed can provide 2500 Watts of output power, its input demand from your truck electrical system will be in excess of 200 Amps!!! You'll need some pretty hefty wiring to support that type of demand, and I doubt if your alternator can put out that amount of current.
Are you sure you want/need to do this - and run it off your truck electrical system?

Need amp

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

It would be safe to use an amplifier slightly lower than the maximum rating of the speaker. In this particular case, 350 watts or lower would be just about right for each. If you are wiring the 2 subs in parallel and powering them with a single channel amp, then a 700 watt bridged would also work.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Application

I'm happy I can help a newbie. I remember when I was one and I'm happy to help you. First off, I nodiced that the fuse is only a 30 amp fuse. A quick way to see what is probably the max output of your amp is take the fuse value, in your case 30 and multiply it by the voltage you will be supplying it. Lets say you are just sitting with the car off the voltage would be 12ish volts. So your total assumed wattage is 360 watts. Which is an large amount less than the 1000watts listed. So watch out for that. Also, with subs you would want a mono-block class-d amplifier. If you need any more help at all, let me know. Good luck

8 ohm to 4 ohm

All you need to do is wire your 2 subs together in parallel. This means Hooking the positives of both subs together, as well as hooking both negatives together.

Your total resistance:

Rt = (R1 x R2) / (R1 + R2) = (8 x 8) / (8+8) = 4

Power light keeps on blinking then amp turns off

The Amp and the Car head unit should be on a separate wire. The Amp should run directly to the battery and be at least a 8 to 12 guage wire. If it is not, you will get this type of symptom. Good Luck Please dont forget to rate this thread
