Compaq start up problems

Unplug the power and remove the battery. Next, hold the power button for about a minute. Than, reattach the power and attempt a boot.

I will first try to restore the system first to the point when you had no such problems.
Then, run anti virus program like kaspersky. (Some programs catche virus or spyware well but don't fix well.)

If your problem stays same, there are two possible problems. (hightly possible first)

1) Motherboard Problem. (If your notebook were shut down due to any electric shock like sudden power down)
2) Power Problem. (Short power) - example bad battery

www.compaq.com and look up the users manual should help you out. don't be afraid to push things you aren't gonna break it the more you play with the pc the better you will become. i also suggest getting a book on how to use laptops maybe that will help too

if you are having trouble with your drivers
here is a general look at the drivers and how to update them
if your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x
right click to reinstall drivers or
if you can see your usb but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver hope this helps don

reformat your pc or reboot and scan for antivirus software

The problem maybe a loose electrical connection with the RAM modules and hard disk. Re-seat the RAM modules and the hard disk.
If the problem persists then the hard disk maybe faulty.
To test the hard disk, remove the hard disk and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port. If this computer has trouble seeing it as an external hard drive and unable to open the folders and files then the hard disk is faulty.
Then the hard disk needs to be replaced in the Compaq and Windows XP needs to installed on the new hard drive and the device drivers and programs.

A simple but temporary solution would be to use an external mouse. Logitech sells several affordable and very nice wireless mice. Then you could disable the touchpad. I find them more trouble then their worth anyway and by using an external mouse you'll most definitely increase your productivity. :)

start pc...after bios screen loads press F8 in order to get to safe mode options......in the list there is an option to repair windows startup problems...choose that option....it takes a little while to repair so be patient but your machine should start normally

go to compaq site, then go to get support option, go to live chat option, there they will give the link for xp drivers

So I bought a Latitude D620 and I bet u heard this a million times already it came with the famous This system #xxxxxxx-xxxx, is protected by a password authentication system. Any help from the gods of this site would be appreciated. below are the numbers needed i believe,

This system #CHZ0P2J-595B is protected by a password authentication system.
