Hi, I have somehow put a childlock on our tv, we have no user guide!! There's a padlock on the screen & we're meant to be having a grand final party on Saturday!! Plz help me.

A few kids came over and one of them set the parental code. Now my son's DVD player won't play alot of his movies. Well I saw the advise the person gave at the bottom of the page: "Press the + button for about 4 seconds or longer". Well it worked and I thought I would let you know that it worked. I thought I had tried everything. I tried things I read on other websites and nothing worked. That is until I stumbled on this site and that man's answer. the tv has been locked. use the user manual to tell you how to unlock. using the remote control.there is no problem inside your tv. it may have been locked because of a young child not to go into channels its a child lock
to unlock the parental control on a Telefunken TV that has a blue screen and a red padlock on the top left hand side, hold down the display button on the remote for 10 seconds and it works
Press MENU to show the on-screen
menu.
Press VOL+ or VOL- to highlight SET.
Press CH+ or CH- to highlight PARENTAL CONTROL. Press VOL+ or VOL- to display the
SECRET CODE screen.
Press VOL+ (on the remote) and the CH+ button on the front of the TV at the same time. Press the Number buttons to enter a four-digit code. The code will appear on the screen as you enter it. The code "0000" is the default of the TV. If you have not set up a code previously, then "0000" is the code.You cannot use "0000" after you set your own code (unless you reset the code to "0000").
Press MENU to save the code.

It sounds to me like a child lock function, which is usually what the screen + padlock is on TVs. Usually your original remote would have a button / sequence to unlock the mode. If you still have your original remote, look for a child lock button or refer to your remote manual (and/or TV manual for the child lock feature) to unlock the mode.
Sorry man The only way I know to unlock it is with the original remote. They are available at http://www.remotes.com You have to press the M or Mute button and the F or the Function button at the same time. If the remote you have has these buttons try them. Like I said if it doesnt work, you will need an original remote. See if anyone you know has one you can borrow or the store where you bought the TV, maybe they will let you borrow one. Good Luck
