The closed caption is not in the menu, it is in the video adjustments color, bright, sharp, ect. get to those adjustments and scroll until you see C.C. turn it off. i had the same problem but my whole screen was a black box, bought a new tv and everything. just figured it out today

Try using another code marked under the brand of the television in the manual of the universal remote, one of the codes should work and let you open the menu.

You must have its original remote control, which will have 'CC; button on it. you have to press this button once to cancel the Closed Caption option. If you can acccess the Menu of the tV by your present universal remote contro,; get into TVs Menu option, surf through, come to closed capation adjust window, and cancell [OFF] the closed caption option.

I do not know how to turn off the closed captioning on my son's orion tv set. I do not know the model type. I do know that closed captioning options are not on the menu.

If you have the original remote look for a button labeled "CC" or "Caption/Text" press this button till the screen says caption off.

On your remote, push TV MENU button. With the center wheel ("adjust") control, scroll over to captions. Push "enter" button in center. With "adjust" wheel, scroll down until "off" shows in the box. Press TV MENU button twice and you're done! Good luck!
