Trying to find parts, I need a new switch for handle of hose. I don't want to have to spend $100 for the entire hose assembly when every thing else is fine. Is there any hope?

It's not that easy to do but you could fit a small slide switch like from Jaycar electronics part number ss-0852

Testimonial: "the switch on the D4 is not available and is not compatiable with the C 3.1. I wish it was because the sliding switch was so much better than this one. this is more of a toggle and you have to wait for the vac to come up to speed and to slow down before shutting. I did try that switch from Sebo but it wouldn't work. I assume it was not comunicating with the vac. There is a small (mother board) in the switch.. Just had a thought? what is I removed the switch and solder in the (circut board) to the slide switch? Any thoughts?"

  • kathy Bergstrom Oct 16, 2013

I tried to put in a switch from the Sebo C3.1 once but it -didn't work. Do you know that this switch would be compatiable? Sounds like a great idea if it does.

  • kathy Bergstrom Jan 19, 2014

Hey Peter Hampton, did you try to change the switch on the D4? I hate the toggle one for the same reason!! Did you ever try to soder in the circut board? I never saw your post, guess I need to learn to navigate this site. Funny I was having the same thought you just had.. If it works it will be the best $7 bucks I've ever spent... The other thing I hate about the D4 it that it doesn't follow you. The C3.1 followed so much better. I tried to put stops in the channel that allows it to turn but design failed. I'm thinking of a new design. If they were going to add the wider swing to the hose they should have set the back whees straight or something. Well, it has more pick up power due the hose design and the longer power cord is to die for soooo.. Oh and the bag is lager too, all great but..... Why change the good things that worked so well ha??? Let me know if it worked.

This company makes individual parts for the vacuum cleaner you have. They have a sliding "handle switch" for $7.00

Parts company

Testimonial: "Actually what you are looking at is the sliding button for the wand. I am not able to find the sliding switch for the C3.1. Thank you for trying!!"

Is it the switch for the C3.1?

I need to print how to assemble a bissell proheat shampoorer

First locate screw pack (you will need a Phillips screwdriver). 2 long Phillips screws with hex nuts, 2 short Phillips screws. Should be taped to under part of handle.

2, Put upper handle into lower handle.

3, feed the power cord through the tool caddy from the flat side. Place caddy to handle so the hex shaped holes on upper portion.

4. Place the hex nut in the hex shaped hole and insert long bolt through the front of the handle. Do the same on the other screw and tighten them snuggly. Be careful not to over tighten them.

5. Insert small screws into lower 2 holes through the back side of the lower hose rack. Turn until tightened.

6. Attach tool(s) (that would be a small brush or the pet brush attachment to end of hose and on the attachment holder on front of upper handle.

7. Wrap hose around large holder closest to handle and power cord is wrapped around outer holder with rotating clamp.

Hope that helped

Top coupler on gas pump handle ONLY (Majestic 360 SS) is broken. Do we have to replace whole hose and handle assembly?

They now make a replacement tab so you don't have to replace the entire handle grip. The bad part is, most of the time it's the handle grip that has the broken place in the plastic, not the latch tab. That too can be bought seperately though, so you don't have to buy the hose. Call your local vac shop for assistance.

How do I replace the part where the hose snaps into? It's directly behind the switch plate.

Hi Eric,

Thank you for your inquiry. If you are referring to the flexible hose and where it connects to the machine (which is at the base), the entire duct assembly would require replacement. However, if you are referring to the wand handle, and where it connects to the machine behind the power button (or where the hose connects to the wand handle), part replacement is possible.

We would appreciate the opportunity to help you determine which part is necessary to resolve this problem. Please call us directly at 1-866-693-9766 (US) or 0800 298 0298 (UK) so we can provide further assistance.

Best wishes,

The part number for the hose is 47086.
The best thing to do is contact the nearest Aerus Electrolux dealer.
If it's just the switch or handle that broke, it will be more cost effective to have that replaced. If I remember right, the hose costs close to $200 new. A new switch may cost up to $20, but probably quite a bit less.

That's about the best one to narrow down a problem, however, there could also be a break in your hose wiring. Switches, hoses, and hose handle assemblies are all available at your local Aerus Electrolux store. Simply take your entire machine in so they can check it to be sure what the problem is.

Power nozzle shuts on and off

HI There, When a Kenmore power nozzle cuts on and off, this usually indicates that your electrical hose has gone bad and has a short circuit somewhere. You can try and troubleshoot the hose to find out where the short is by trying to determine what position the hose is in when it cuts on and off, and try to isolate the short circuit by spinning the hose on both the end that plugs into the canister, as well as the end that plugs into the wand. Sometimes the short is in the wands, or even the swivel neck assembly on the power nozzle where the wands connect. I would say 9 times out of 10 though on Kenmore canisters, the problem is in the hose. Kenmore is actually manufactured by Panasonic, and the two brands use a lot of the same identical parts, including the electrical hose (most cases). If your Kenmore has a two position switch, with a setting for floors and carpets, then here's a link to the corresponding Panasonic hose that you can buy. The Panasonic hoses are a little more expensive then Kenmore, but the huge benefit is that they come 100% completely assembled, where as the Kenmore hose has to be assembled (which is extremely difficult even for me to do). Panasonic 3 Wire Electrical Suction Hose To Fit Kenmore Canisters On just a handful of Kenmore models, an additional modification has to be done with the internal switch. Kenmore must have had the hose modified so you'd have to buy the genuine Kenmore part, but luckily simply switching two wires on the switch will allow the Panasonic hose to work. Try just plugging in the hose into the vacuum first, and if it still doesn't work properly, then you can modify the switch. If you find that the short is in the wand or swivel neck, just use the comment field on this repair page and let me know, I'll be happy to follow up and walk you through either of these repairs as well. If this was helpful to you, please be so kind and rate the repair, or leave some feedback for me. This is greatly appreciated. Chris Jones GoVacuum.com

I require the Old hose handle/end plug disassemble instruction for a Kenmore Whispertone model 116.20600001c

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
There are some hoses that have separate hose ends and some hoses that you have to replace the entire hose the way the manufacturer made the hose. There are some local vac dealers that may have a new, or a good used hose or they also may have a non-genuine replacement hose that you could use. It really depends on the hose that you have and how it was made.
So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Panasonic Vacuum MC-E450UK

Panasonic MC-E 450UK upright vacuum cleaner.
Just had this problem myself...........easy to get at it when you know how.
Panasonic UK wouldn't help me so I spent some time working it out..........here it is.
Remove the hose from its mounting storage at the rear (called hose clip) where the main body of the vacuum cleaner meets the base of the handle assembly. Remove the screw at the rear of the handle assembly which is behind where the hose 'was' situated and is located inside the deep recess.
Using the soft part of your clenched hand as a hammer, knock the base of the handle assembly at the front and it will slide backwards off the main body of the vacuum cleaner. Don't be scared, give it a thump and keep moving it backwards with a few more knocks.
Next remove the two screws at the front which hold the mains cable and on/off switch cover in place.
Finally looking from the rear once more, lift the plastic 'lug' at the top of the cover and which is part of the cover. This will now allow you to release the cover and pull it forward.
There you go! Told you it was easy!
Watch out for the funny little spring at the front behind the cover in the tiny plastic tube where it connects to the small rubber tubing as it could possibly try to escape.
You now have complete access in order to cut the intermittent part of the cable out and remove it from the 'choc' block.
Happy fixing!!
Jack.
