I have one rx-v870 TopArt series. Vry good amp. The display unit is fitted with an Incandesant globe and these burn out easily. These are cheap, you'll also need some heatshrink and a half decent soldering iron. I replaced all my orange leds with blue ones and instead of a incandecnt globe i bought a 1 watt luxeon blue led (very bright) and jammed it into the cavity where the globe once was. if the light still works, check the interconnection between the mainboard and the display unit board(1 loom), make sure ur 870s off when you do this. if this doesn't solve the prob. hmm dunno.

Yamaha rxv 870 - volume does not work from remote(s)

hi i have the same problem. yamaha rx-v870 with a remote control that works perfectly except for the volume up/down. i pressed the buttons for a minute and applied some lemon gunk remover liquid and this helped for a very short period. i am wondering if the problem is with the little motor inside the receiver that rotates the volume knob itself, as opposed to an infrared problem on the transmitter/receiver.

FIRST be SURE your speakers are connected! A loose wire can cause shutdowns as your Supply tries to protect your output transistors!

Your Yamaha also HAS a onboard DIAGNOSTIC feature but it won't do you much good now because your supply is going into emergency shutdown so quickly... see page 15.

Suspect a problem in your Power Supply.

*** WITH THE POWER DISCONNECTED ***

Inspect the electrolytic caps for leakage AND be sure the tops are flat and not bubbled.

Find your power supply on pages 46/47/48. It is VERY extensive and has MANY possible suspects. NOT for the weak of heart!

Poor dialog sound of Yamaha RX-V363

I'm working on one right now. It seams that you are not selecting to correct program for the dialog. I would not use music enhancement on dialog content.

Radio coming through on one channel?

Separate your speaker ground wires and ground them independently. Make sure you are grounding the speaker ground and not the positive!
