SOURCE: Cartridge advancement to replace toner

It's done via the printers internal menu system: On your Menu Select button press the arrow down once, then press the right or left arrow until it displays Menu Engine, then press down arrow again, then arrow right or left until it displays Engine Replace Toner (not Engine change toner SZ), then arrow down again, then arrow right/left till it shows the toner color you need to change, then hit the Menu Select button in the middle. The cartridges rotate until the one you selected appears, open the door and voila!

SOURCE: Toner Not Installed - After replace black

This is actually a desigbn fault on the magicolor printers. Underneath the toner rack is the 3 pin chip reader - normally white and plastic with 3 metal contacts sticking out.

it is at the bottom of the printer so very often toner drops onto it and the sensors dont work, it also takes a bit of a beating as the cartridges rotate. Its very easy to replace - but you need the part,

Minolta should have put it at the top rather than the bottow where it gets covered in dust.

these guys helped me a lot

SOURCE: Imaging Unit Problem with bizhub C450

On the end of the image unit you will find a white bit of plastic with a small screw in the middle, make sure this screw is tight and then reinstall the units(give the units a bit of a shake too)

Printer is saying black toner is out but i just replaced it with a brand new one from Staples

I've been having this problem and it turns out (and here's that bit that makes me look stupid) that I had been supplied with the imaging unit and not the toner cartridge so you may wish to check you've changed what it is you think you've changed. Toner carts are the top row, image units the middle and waste on the bottom.)

Yellow deposit

Remove the Yellow Drum unit, Check the drum for any toner. The drums should be clean and I believe a Green color. If you see any toner on the yellow unit replace the unit. Some models have a charge cleaner built into the image units, if that is the case with yours you will see a light blue knob on the front of the unit. Pull this knob in and out about 5 times to clean the units charger this may correct the problem without replacing the yellow image unit.
