How to remove interior door panel on a 1997 caravan with ower windowq

sounds like linkage disconnected it will be annoying but need to remove panel it can be done but time consuming

2 screws in arm rest 1 on the both side 3 on the bottom 1 in the door handle lift up if power windows watch for wires

Hi Roberta, here's the instructions on how to remove your door panel. I have to wonder though on why you are removing it, my guess is you window doesn't roll up or down and your replacing the regulator. Any way here goes.

REMOVAL

1. Remove the plug and remove screw attaching door pull cup to inner door panel.
2. Remove switch bezel and disconnect power window/memory switch.
3. Remove screws attaching trim panel to door from below map pocket.
4. If equipped, remove window crank. (Refer to 23 - BODY/DOOR - FRONT/WINDOW CRANK - REMOVAL)
5. Remove screw holding door trim to door panel from behind inside latch release handle .
6. Disengage clips attaching door trim to door frame around perimeter of panel.
7. Lift trim panel upward to disengage flange from inner belt molding at top of door.
8. Tilt top of trim panel away from door to gain access to latch linkage.
9. Disengage clip attaching linkage rod to inside latch release handle (INSIDE DOOR HANDLE LINKAGE).
10. Separate linkage rod from latch handle.
11. Disconnect the power door switch, courtesy lamp electrical connectors.
12. Remove front door trim panel from vehicle.

REMOVAL

1. Remove the watershield. (Refer to 23 - BODY/DOOR - FRONT/WATERSHIELD - REMOVAL)

2. Remove door glass retaining clips and secure the window in the up position using masking tape or equivalent(FRONT DOOR GLASS CLIPS).

3. Disconnect wire connector from power window motor, if equipped.

4. Loosen screws attaching front and rear window guide rails to inner door panel (FRONT DOOR MANUAL WINDOW REGULATOR - TYPICAL).

5. Remove screw heads on guide rails from key hole slots in inner door panel.

6. Loosen screws attaching regulator to inner door panel.

7. Remove regulator from inner door panel.

8. Extract rear guide rail through inner door panel rear access hole (FRONT DOOR POWER WINDOW - TYPICAL).

9. Extract front guide rail through front access hole.

INSTALLATION

1. Insert front guide rail through front access hole.

2. Insert rear guide rail through rear access hole.

3. Place window regulator in position on inner door panel.

4. Place screw heads on guide rails in position through key hole slots in inner door panel.

5. Tighten screws to attach front and rear guide rails to inner door panel.

6. Connect wire connector into power window motor, if equipped.

7. Install door glass.

8. Verify door glass alignment and operation.

9. Install sound shield and door trim panel

you don't remove the door skin, you remove the interior door panel. Find and remove all screws in door panel, they will be located under panel, behind interior door handle, armrest area, you might have to remove plastic plugs that have screws behind them. Panel will have plastic clips all around perimeter, panel will pull towards you from edges to release these clips, lift panel up and it will come off. You will have to disconnect any wiring. now you can get into the door to get to window regulator and motor.

To remove the panel completely. You must remove all screws & the seatbealt bolts for the 2nd & 3rd seats

Chiltons is a very basic manual cover numerous years. To check slighty pry the bottom edge of your door with your fingernails if it is tight all the way to the bottom it probably is the snap fastners. Make sure to remove the door handle bolts/nuts.

There is a small spring clip behind the handle. Remove the spring clip and the handle will slide off.

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls

1, Disconnect the able from negative terminal of the battery.
2. Pry the courtesy light from the door trim and disconnect the wire connector..
3. Remove all door trim panel retaining screws and door pull armrest assemblies.
4. Remove the door switch panel and the control switch panel and the control switch assembly.
5. On models with memory seats/mirrors, use small-flat bladed pry tool to remove and disconnect the wire.
6. Grasp the trim panel lift up and pull out to detach it from the door. Disconnect the inner door handle lock rod from the handle. Unplug any electrical connectors remaining and remove the door panel.
7. To install, connect the wire harness connectors and place the panel in position in the door. Press the trim panel down into place until the hooks are seated.
8. Install the armrest/door pulls, the courtesy light and the window switch'
9. Reconnect the battery


Also. You will need star pattern drivers to remove the window and motor from your door. If you have all the equipment it should only take you 1 hour.
