Re: trouble with the red cannon
is the blue blur the only blue on the screen? The reason I ask is because the vertical defection to the blue CRT might be going bad and producing a blue line across the screen. I doubt that it is a convergence problem, but it may also be a magnetism problem and you may need to degauss your set with a degaussing coil (check ebay for specials on this device). I have seen a lot of the projection TVs end up needing to be demagnetized (degaussed). Try degaussing it first and then look at the possibility of a vertical deflection problem and then possibly a convergence issue.

The problem seems like it is the optical block. When the optical block goes bad blurs will begin to develop on the screen, possibly in the a blue /green or purplish color. Once it begins it will only get worse and replacing it is expensive and impractical since you can get a better television for less money than the parts. Repair is an option, but it is only a short term solution to a problem that lies with poorly made parts that will inevitably fail again. If you are interested in repair check with your local TV repair company, or search eBay and craigslist for advertised optical block repair.
