Hello my JENN AIR Jenn Air JMV8208BAS Microwave won't turn off properly. When it comes to the end of the cooking time it beeps and the vent at the top closes but it keeps making a noise and it is still cooking. The only way to stop it is to open the door, but if you close it again it carries on going. Help! thanks

I would first suggest checking the bottom door switch and its mount.

The full service / installation manual is here.

If it's not a switch issue, you may have a sticking relay on your control board, which can be economically repaired. Details are here.

SOURCE: Jenn-Air Microwave vent grill opens and closes

I have this same problem occasionally. Pull the vent grill open and look for a white cam that rotates when the microwave is on. To the right of that cam, there are two gray switches. The bottom switch should have a red tab that pops out. When the vent grill opens and closes continuously, the red tab is stuck in. Take a flat screwdriver or tooth pick and push gently in on the red tab to release it. It must get stuck due to grease or dirt accumulation. Good luck.

SOURCE: jenn air microwave loose door

Most if not all of these units have a safety switch--can't get at it from the outside---if unit is taken apart it often is snapped into a plastic holder and prevents the unit from working if door is open.

If it is loose or not engaged completely the unit will do what you are describing.

    Hey David... sorry to say

There's a $14 fuse between cooking & your magnetron (could be other things (but in my opinion... magnetrons sound right for your symptoms)

    I checked for your magnetron
and got MFR Number 461967847321 - not AVAILABLE.

(there is one $74 on eBay (

I LOOKED at your oven and it is a really nice one...

Ihave a Jenn-Air JMV8196 microwave oven. The clock works, the fan works and the light works. Not sure why the microwave will not come on to cook. Help?

The problem is caused by one of three things, the magnetron "heats food" the high voltage diode "sometimes shorts" or the high voltage capacitor " shorts"

Lock function reset for model JMV8208BAS

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes. Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

The owner's manual is online here and it covers the child lock:

    To set the child lock.
    Touch and hold
    ENTER/START
    pad more than 3
    seconds. CHILD
    LOCK ON will
    appear in the display
    window with two
    beeps.

    To cancel the child
    lock.
    Touch and hold
    ENTER/START
    pad more than 3
    seconds. LOCKED
    will disappear and
    you hear two beeps.

I always recommend that folks use the vent / hood fan anytime they're cooking with the stove.

Was it on at the time?

If not, moisture can certainly get into the works and cause problems or damage. If it dries out, it's fine but if not, it could cause damage.
