42PF9956/37 SHUTSDOWN...

Ok. I got my tv back on.
I pulled off the back cover and found the relay that was clicking.
I have two blue relays next to each other that click when the power is pushed.
I placed a hair dryer over the relays for about a minute.
Once heated up, it only took 4 tries to get the TV to stay on.

Low or no luminance

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, dark, etc. You may even see halos around images.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

I don't know why but this got my TV on.
I took off the back cover and found the source of the clicking.
Two blue plastic rectangular relays in the exact middle.
When I pushed the power button, I felt the top relay click, and I saw a flash from the bottom one. (they are right next to each other)
I took a hair dryer and placed it over the two relays for about 1 minute and tried the power.
It clicked only 4 times and then came on!!!!!!!!!
For some reason heat helps the relay.
If anyone is a tech and can explain this, please do.
Good luck!!!!
My tv is on and it didn't cost me anything.
I just can't turn it off now!!!

Sony KV-32V35

Could be a problem in the shutdown circuit,in the HI Voltage detection circuit,or the flyback transformer. If your not a tech, you shouldnt be experimenting by adding parts as its going to knock you against the wall if it bites you. You should start out with a service manual and check the voiltages as now thinking it could be the power supply voltage regulator also. Please call a pro to assist you with this repair. Good Luck
