I am trying to play dvds from England (Region 2) on this dvd player and bought it specifically because it is region free - plays NTSC and PAL, so thought it would be an obvious choice. I can get the dvd to show on the tv, but it is in black and white and is quite blurry. I thought it was the tv, so tried it on a different tv, same problem. Help please.

Hi, you are partly correct, your region 1 player is also in NTSC format, other regions are in PAL format...... So even if you converted your player to multi region or bought a multi region player it still would not play a PAL disk which the Chinese disks would be! The only way you could do this is to buy a multi region PAL/NTSC format DVD player.

What kind of DVD player is it? Does it do this with all DVDs?
Have you tried a cleaning disk?

probably you are trying to play a disc that is not zone free or you need a code for your player to make it zone free. you may be playing a zone 2 disc ( PAL) on a machine that only takes zone 1 (NTSC) or vica-versa.

The dvds discs u bought from the UK is play on only the DVD player that play PAL signal format. Where u live Canada,US or Mexico?DVD players in these countries.It play only NTSC signal format.U can't change DVD players regions format,only can a DVD players that have regions free to play all DVDs discs of the world.
