Hi Fix it mom, If your courageous, pull the trays out of the way and remove the screen in bottom of the dishwasher to see if something is getting into the pump. By something I mean undesired matter. Straw, Twist tie, knife, toothpick, etc... I hope this helps

I've got exactly the same problem. Found a piece of a plastic and thought that was the problem, but it it seems to have gotten worse. So I'm brave enough to remove the screen at the bottom before spending over $100 just to get the repair guy to come out and tell me what is wrong. Can you give me a little guidance??? I'm assuming I just remove the screw at the bottom... turn off the power first?

Dish washer 3 1/2 yrs old making a growling/vibrating sound.

The problem is hard water. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com to find out more info.

Very noisy wash cycle

most times i have found a foriegn object in the pump. sometimes the machine will clear it itself but other times you have to take the pump apart. it is not too difficult but you will need a size T15 and T20 Torx aka (star) bit to get it apart. Just keep taking out screws until the filter flowplate lifts off.

Kitchenaid Whisper Quiet + dishwasher making loud humming noise

Very likely pump motor shaft seal leaks water into bearing casing buildup of rust and consequently noise. I just replaced $112 worth of pump assy and it's back to normal. I would also buy repair manual for $10 on-line to be sure how to disassemble the sump to get to the pump.

Heat pump is humming loud>

When the heat is not on. Go to the T-stat and turn the fan to the on position. With the blower now running is it making the noise? If so you probably either have something in there such as the filter that was mentioned, a piece of paper etc. or one or more of the blades on the blower wheel is vibrating. Don't let the condition persist w/o having it checked out or you may turn a simple fix into a costly one.
