Visit the website of Magellan for your country or their global site. Find the maps, pay for them and download to your computer. You will have access to the installation instructions. Usually you install some software by Magellan, you connect your device to your computer and the proprietary software will install them on the GPS.
the factory reset should clear it. if it doesn't you'll have to open the unit and disconnect the "keep alive" battery (for memory retention) and that will def. do it no doubt. but the factory default/back to new button should clear all entered info.
Magellan support was actually pretty good helping me with the exact same issue. The problem (at least in my case) was that the map files were fragmented. I tried using the Windows defragmenter, but that made fragmentation even worse! The Magellan support engineer recommended I download UltraDefrag instead: http://ultradefrag.sourceforge.net/en/index.html
Here's what I had to do to completely resolve my issue: 1. Download and install UltraDefrag 2. Connect my GPS to my PC 3. Move the MAP directory from my GPS drive (J:) to my hard disk 4. In UltraDefrag, make sure Action > Skip removable media is not selected 5. Run the optimizer (Ctrl-F7 or Action > Full optimization) after selecting the GPS drive (J: on my computer) 6. Copy the MAP files back to the J: drive AFTER optimization has completed
I double-checked the fragmentation after the files were copied and got 0%. After disconnecting the GPS from the PC, the unit rebooted and doing an address search no longer takes 15 seconds. POI searchs are also much faster than before.
The pictures that displays on your screen is a message asking you to get your system connected to a computer, then you either update the software, download a new software for it or you update your current software.
Try to reset your gps first before you connect it to a computer. To reset your gps device, you need to hold the power off/on button for about 15 seconds, then it will restart itself, then it will load normally. If it does the same thing, then you need to connect it to a computer and download a new software for your device.
I hope this information was helpful.
TRY SWITCHING GPS OFF WHILE CONNECTED. IF NOT DOWN LOAD NEW SOFTWARE AND WHEN FINISHED IT LEAVE CONECTED SHOULD SHOW CHARGING AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO USE
Does it turn on at all? Try to charge it on car adaper then, when it will turn on, try this.
The picture is displayed while it is charging through USB cable and you can't normally use GPS.
Turn the GPS on without the USB plugged in, then press the Battery symbol for about 10 seconds, until the test screen appears. Then plug in the USB.
Screen will tell you percentage of charge, and if it is charging.
***Make sure you press EXIT before unplugging the USB cable. Press EXIT, turn GPS off, then remove the cable is safest way
On the bottom you should see "USB type" if nothing is there, it may be the USB port on your computer. Try it again with a different port
TomTom Home must have corrupted the TomTom's operating system. That is what that symbol means. Contact TomTom support and tell them what model you have and they will walk you through getting the correct version installed.
