Since yesterday my chest freezer is not working , I can hear it tries to kick in and in few seconds shutts down by itself. What do i check and how to fix it. I have tried adjusting the temperature. tried a different outlet and now i have switched it off completely to check in few hours.
I have kenmore chest freezer model 2539163111. It frosted on the top but the bottom of it is not cold at all. I set it to the highest cold. When I open the side to check the compressor, it is really hot almost burn my hand. Is it suppose to be like this or it is bad? I did not see the fan to cool the compressor, where is it located at. Please help. My chest freezer about 5 years or more. Thanks for the input!!! my email is [email protected]I have kenmore chest freezer model 2539163111. I have the same problem. It seems that it is the compressor. Mine is 20 years old so I think it is time for a new one! :) I have the same problem. It seems that it is the compressor. Mine is 20 years old so I think it is time for a new one! :)

Remove the panel covering the compressor. Remove the relay plugged on the side of the compressor and shake it. If it rattles or has any burned spots it is shorted out. Try replacing it first. Make sure you replace it with the correct replacement, not a fit-all. If this is not the problem you will need to replace the compressor. If it is less than 5 yrs old the compressor should still be in warranty. If so call Sears, it will be repaired free of charge. If it is out of warranty buy a new freezer.

That is the compressor starting relay trying to start the cooling cycle and the overload protector kicking off. You can try installing a new start device for about $50.00 but you are most likely looking at a compressor replacement which runs about $400.00
the noise your hearing indicates the possibility of a bad start relay on the comp or possibly it just came loose during the move. on the side of the compressor you will see 2-3 wires running into an electrical connection reseat this first. if still no operation replace teh relay. you can purchase thru any reputable appliance parts dealer. after replacing the relay if you have no operation then likely problem is seized comp.
domestic freezers do not have low pressure switches that indicate low freon charge.
go to your local appliance store and buy a 3 in 1 starter kit, install, directions are with kit, this is your last hope as the compressor is getting weak, hope this help-mike
Probably a freon lean and not worth repairing. You can never find the leak in a chest freezer. Recharging will buy a little time but you can never reallly trust it again.
