Question about Amana Washing Machines
SOURCE: Water Won't Drain from Washing Machine
Hello phylislw61,
If you had an incident where a pillow broke and feathers where dispersed throughout the washer..then there is a good chance that teh drain fiilter screen, pump or hose feeding the pump is clogged. I would verify that the filter is free from anything that would limit water flow from getting to the pump.. then if the problem is still there.. examine the pump itself to make sure it isn't clogged...
If you or someone in your family is reasonably handy, here is a link to your washing machines exploded view and parts and this should provide sufficient information for how to access the pump and associated hoses etc that feed into and out of it for cleaning..
If you are having problems after you verify the lines are free of restriction, feel free to contact me and I will try to assist you in solving your problem.. Here is the link..

SOURCE: Hello there! I appreciate
Hi.
There are two possible reasons for your problem.
1) The water is flowing back from drain or is not completely drained out because of a drain system problem.
The first action will
consist in checking the drain hose at the back. Make sure that the hose height is as specified by manual, or you get the so-called siphoning problem, with water flowing back from drain hose into the tub. Try running a cycle with the drain hose down in a bucket on the floor. If clothes are dry the problem was the drain hose
If possibly try also checking the drain
filter accessible from lower front bottom of your washing machine. Please be aware that to check the pump the machine must be lifted and checking drain pump may raise safety issue. Power must be disconnected before performing any maintenance. You can leave this for last. The pump represented below and the hose to pump represented as part 18 in diagram must be tested.

2) The sensor that detects water level is defective and drain part of the cycle stops before drain is complete.
The part that detects water level is called pressure switch. The pressure switch looks like a plastic disk with 4 contacts connected to a long thin rubber hose that goes inside the tub. Before replacing the switch an attempt to correct the problem can be done cleaning the pressure hose connected to the switch. If that does not fix the problem and if the problem is not drain blockage or pump malfunction, replace the pressure switch. The pressure switch is part 4 in diagram below . The switch is reached taking apart the top control panel held by screws at the back. Here the part: (Pressure Switch)

Hello,
When
you open the washing machine lid and discover it full of water, it
means it didn't drain before the spin cycle.
You may be confronted with
a tub full of sopping wet clothes at an inconvenient time, but don't
panic and call a repairman.
Chances are the trouble is with the drain
hose or the pump and you can fix it yourself with just a few simple
tools.
Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
