Question about Dryers

Take apart a kenmore front load dryer

I have a Kenmore dryer, which the model number in my manual says it is a 417 and the number on my receipt is 26 83042. I have problems with clothes getting stuck between the drum and the front case and torn or shredded. Recently a bell from my daughters hat was jammed in there and broke off the hat. It is still between the drum and case and makes a lot of noise. First, how do I get the bell out and is there a way to prevent clothes from getting caught in between?

Kenmore front load dryer model #417.84082500-making cliking noise when turned on. (I think it may be ripping my clothes) we also have a puppy that may be the culprit too. We can not figure out how to take apart the dryer. We dont want to bust clips. Can anyone tell is how to take it apart?

I have the same problem but the dryer will also scorch where it catches the clothes in the drum gap. I am checking the gap and hopefully this is the problem,

The serial number found on the door frame sticker will tell me who manufactured it for sears. I could then discribe to you how to complete the repair. sounds like the drum glides are worn. easy repair. once I know what drier it is i could even send you the part numbers. one way to quickly check is lift the drum up from inside the drier and see how much space is between the drum and the support at the front. it should be no more than 3/16 of an inch to a quarter inch.

tis a project but if you have patience and want to play erector set
go for it. have some small cups/containers around for the different screws and where they go. a battery drill with bits comes in real handy.
Here's the site for the part if you want....

Dryer will not come on after setting timer and pushing start. No light when door is open.

Most likely the door switch is bad. Listen for a click when the door is just opened or closed. Noclick = bad door switch. The number you passed is NOT the model number. The model number will have 3 digits followed by a period and up to 8 more digiits after the period. i.e 110.xxxxyyyy or 110.Cxxx.yyy (examples only as it can be other numbers depending on the manufacturer.) There are other numbers starting with 417 and 665 also.
This is what I think your model number is: 11064672400

The door switch is item 41 below link: PN 3406107

This manual will help you:

The top has to be opened and the front panel taken lose and tipped out to change the door switch.
The manual is not straight forward as to the sequence of remofing things but you remove the top... open the toe panel loosen the lower front panel screws and then take out the 2 upper mounting screws for the front panel to gain acccess to the door switch. POWER OFF at the CB or dryer unplugged of course!

Kenmore 417 44042400 Front Load machine Sears says does not exist

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. THE COMPANY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS. HERE IS MY SOLUTION: GO TO LOWE'S HARDWARE AND BUY A WASHER AND DRYER THERE. BUY THE GE BRAND. 3 YEARS AGO, WHEN OUR MAYTAG WASHER DIED, WE BOUGHT A NEW GE WASHER BEFORE MY FATHER DIED IN 2006. BUT CHECK INTO THAT. MY E MAIL ADRESS IS [email protected] IF YOU FIND THIS IMFO HELPFUL. GOOD LUCK.

The model that you provide is incomplete. However, if the washer loads from the top, they cannot be separated. If it loads from the front, they can.
