Unable to communicate to a 1320n laserjet printer

I am using the HP laserjet 1320n Series wireless printer. Sometimes it happens that when printing a large file(approximately 200 pages), and when there are periodic(paper empty condition) advisories are exisitng on the printer, the printer is not able to respond to the status check(communication status) being done and finally I am getting a communication failure with the printer. Hence I am not able to print any further. Even after the printer advisory is cleared(placing the paper into the tray), the advisory button on the printer keeps glowing and the printer is unable to come out of the advisory condition unless the print button is pressed on the printer. After we manually recover the printer from the advisory condition by pressing the print button on the printer, the printer is able to respond to the status check and able to print properly. I am not able to understand the behavior of the printer. I tried to simulate the same condition with the HP laserjet 1160 series wireless printer. But the printer is not giving any problems. The above behaviors of the printers are observed both from the Windows and the Linux environments. I would like to know from the technical team of HP, under what conditions, the HP laserjet 1320n series wireless printer will give the communcation failure and is there any possible solution that can be offered to this problem other than manually pressing the print button on the printer. Please respond at the earliest. Regards, Sai Praveen.

HP LaserJet 1320n Printer connected with usb to pc running on windows7; faded printing; economode = off; printer Density =3; what could be the problem

Faded printing is usuallly caused by an empty or defective toner cartridge. If the toner is new and the printer was working fine before the toner change then you might have a defective cartridge, or you may not have removed the tape strip from the cartridge when you installed it.

Is there a counter for pages printed on my 1320n

No, the page count is not on the test page. You need the configuration page. Press the GO button and hold for 5 seconds. The yellow light will come on and you can release.

I can't remember what side ink cartridge i need

You will need to purchase either the Q5949A or Q5949X for the LaserJet 1320.
The Q5949A will print approx. 2500 pages at a 5% page yield or
The Q5949X will print approx. 6000 pages at a 5% page yield.

Printer wont print after ink cartridge change

Hi pater_g:
Have you tried to reinstall the old cartidge to see if it would give a different problem ( light print ect.) if not try that. If the problem stays and you just can't communicate with the printer try rebooting you computer or go to www.hp.com/support to download a new print driver. I hope this helps you.

How to wirelessly access HP Laserjet 1320n via Apple iBook

You need to disconnect the USB cable and set it up wireless on both units:
Since it is plugged into the router, it should already have an IP address.
Un-install the printer from the computers.
Then re-install the printer from the cd or from HP's website. When you get to the point where it ask you is the printer is attached to the computer or is it over the network. Choose over the net work and the software will find the printer IP and finish setting it up wireless.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Hp 1320n cant print jobs simultaneously from different users

You may need to add memory to the printer so it can que the jobs. The memory is very cheap...128MB 100-pin DIMM for HP OEM# C9121A

Or...you could setup a printer server que and let the print server manage the jobs for you instead of having the printer hold the que.

1320 not 1320n

These days printers are cheaper than before. Why spend money and buy with no warranty.
I would never buy a printer or a computer second hand (used one) unless it is free.
If you are a business person why mess with the used stuff.

HP Laser Jet 1320n series

The HP LaserJet 1320 has a USB port and a Parallel port.

The HP LaserJet 1320n has a USB port and an Ethernet port.

USB-to-Parallel converter cables, like this one, are designed to attach a parallel device to a computer's USB port.

But you need to do the opposite (attach a USB device to a computer's parallel port). A USB-to-Parallel converter cable will not do this.
