Accurian dvd-rw/r recorder/player with VHS --- purchased 7 years ago from Radio shack-- now gives a message "Can Not Record on this disc" with these numbers and letters underneath the message E15 2a037304 . I tried several new packages of dvd-r discs---same message. Is there a setting wrong or is the dvd-burner just plain "shot"? There are NO phone numbers for Accurian customer service technicians to call (frustrating). Can you help by noting that message code given above? Never had ANY problems with the dozens of DVDs burnt from my camcorder vacations, till now. Dean Mickelson [email protected] 541-994-5271

SOURCE: Sylvania SRDV495 DVD-VHS

I have the same unit, a SRDv495 and have also been having
a bad time getting dvd's that will work in my machine. I also
bought mine from Sears. I have found one that works every
time and that is a MAXWELL DVD-RW. The trick I think is
the speed of the DVD, so you need to use the ones that have
Up to Max 2X, 4.7 GBgo, 2 Hrs. I find these work every time.
Hope this helps.

You need to go into the set up menu and select recording options. On the recording options menu, scroll down to dubbing options. On the dubbing options menu select either VCR to DVD or DVD to VCR.
Recording and Dubbing are not the exactly the same thing. You use the record buttons to record TV directly to VCR/DVD you use the dubbing buttons and set up to record DVD to VCR or VCR to DVD.
Hope this helps.

Cannot format a dvd-rw disc or record to the disc.

Unless you posted this question in the wrong category, you can't use the Sansui VRDVD4000 to record to DVD. It is a DVD player only, not a DVD burner. It will play and record VHS tapes, but with DVDs it will only play them.

To record to a DVD, you would need a DVD burner. Many modern computers include a DVD burner, so maybe either your computer or someone you know's computer has a DVD burner.

Will not record or play back VHS for more than 30 seconds

I can tell you some ideas genericaly for VCR's.

This could be an idler wheel assembly problem, or a tape tension, or a reel torque problem.

It can also be a power supply problem where the supply is working just on the edge. Due to some worn components in the supply it can be partialy shutting down.

Your machine will have to be checked out by an experienced VCR tech.

Dvd is unable to read disk that i recoreded on the lg dvd recorder

It would be nothing to do with the TV.

DVD RW discs only last for so long if you have re-written to them many times they may be just worn out. Or is it with all RW discs?

Are you trying to watch them on the same player you recorded them on or is it a different DVD Player you are trying to watch them on?
