make sure battery in ignitor if none check distance from pilot

There is a kit but you would have to check with the makers of your heater to see if it would work with your heater

First check pilot is clean injector is not blocked . It sounds like lack of pressure check reg on gas line .

possible regulator problem or incorrect jet size

yes you have to get the thermo couple hot in order to get the gas valve to open to ignite the main flame
You are probably trying to light the main flame and not the pilot
light
Hold the pilot light button down and put flame to the pilot light opening
You need to be very careful depending on the type of flame you are using to light with the thermocouple could get hot enough to open the main burner flame and it will ignite

I suggest replacing the igniter rather than doing the above step

It would be ideal to take it apart and blow it out but you could try vacuuming out the grates real good.
