Question about Canon PowerShot S200 / IXUS 178 Digital Camera

Blured video on S200

When I turn camera on the video screen is blured. Took photo and examined photo on card through computer and it was also blured. Set settings back to default. Checked battery.

    I get vertical lines of different colors when the screen comes on, can't even get to the menu screen. Tried new battery and flash card.

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

When power on blured screen apear and blured image

1. Try cleaning the lens with a soft dry cloth. Do NOT blow on the lens first. 2. You could be experiencing camera shake - if you are in shutter mode and if your shutter speed is too slow for the light available you get a blurred image.

Lens blur

That means that lens are either misplaced or dirty inside.

The lens assembly must be taken apart at a repair shop to fix this problem.

The left side of my pictures are blured.

If it's been like that since Day 1, I'd guess either an improperly assembled lens, or a misaligned CCD in the body. Hopefully it's a warranty fix. If it has recently started, it may be due to impact to lens or body. Fingers crossed for the warranty situation.
