Just bought this range used, so I don't have and owners manuel. A buzzer came on and where the clock is F-1 appeared. I can push the stop button and it goes off for a little while, but it comes back on. The range is not even in use.
magic chef range mode # 38HA-6TVW-EV. I too bought this second hand from a lady whi said it works great! Nope, the top burners work fine but I cannot get the oven to stay on. It will warm briefly and just stop. F1 will start flashing and beeping. Pusing the stop button stop the beep but only for about 20 seconds. The clock works fine. If it is the control panel or as some call it the brains, is the part available and easy to install?magic chef range mode # 38HA-6TVW-EV. I suppose that it is a Maytag Magic Chef.
From your description my conclusion is an electrical fault on the clock.
You have to open the cooker and remove the connection to the clock.
BE CAREFULLY
Always insulate the connector, as it is mains grid.
When it is indeed the clok, the noise will stop, but you an not use the clock anymore.
Hi this is indicating a Defective touch pad or clock (ERC).
This simple test will help determine whether the ERC(Electronic Range Control board or Clock) or the touch pad is defective when F1 error code is present. Follow carefully, and with caution.
Note: Some models incorporate the touch pad in to the ERC as a single assembly, in which case this test is not necessary. Simply replace the ERC (Clock).
Warning: Do not preform this test if you feel as if you are not qualified to do so. Contact your local service depot, if needed.
1. Disconnect power to the range (unplug the range power cord or turn the power off to the range at the circuit breaker). It is very important that the power to the range has been disconnected, so please double check before continuing.
2. Gain access inside the control panel.
3. Disconnect the touch pad (also called keypad or membrane switch) ribbon from the ERC.
4. Make sure there are no lose wires, or anything else that may cause a short when power is turned back on. Assemble the control panel back the way it was.
5. Turn the power back on.
6. Wait for at least one hour to see if the F1 code comes back (usually accompanied by a beeping sound).
7. If F1 comes back, replace the ERC. If it does not, replace the touch pad.
f1 is the code for a failed clock most of the times you must replace the clock most of them have a five year warrenty check your owners manuel for warrenty info
F1
1. Watchdog on board 2. Touch membrane defective
To determine which component is at fault, disconnect ribbon strip. If NO fault code, replace membrane, otherwise replace board
F2
Oven too hot
Check oven temperature sensor
F3 F4
Open or shorted oven temperature sensor
Replace
F5
Hardware and watchdog circuits disagree
Replace clock assembly (also called the ERC)
F6
Missing AC signal
Replace clock assembly (also called the ERC)
F7
Function key shorted
Replace touch pad
F8
Analog/Digital converter
Replace clock assembly (also called the ERC)
F9
Door latch
Check door lock circuit
F10
Function key stuck
Replace touch pad
