I have two KLH C130b speakers. 8 ohm, 130 watts. What specifications should i look for in an amplifier

Question moved from MISC

I answered this last night.

Most amplifiers and receivers have an 8 ohm output, but check that. Amplifiers come in two specs for power output;

Watts RMS (Root Mean Square) and this is the best way of measuring as it is realistic. For those speakers, look for 50 watts RMS.

The other is 'Peak Power', and this is specified for sounding 'powerful', but is not realistic, as it is that Maximum output with all the distortion that comes with it because you are overworking the circuitry. For Peak Power, choose something no greater that 100 watts. You NEVER want to over-tax your speakers.

As I mentioned last night, these are Budget Speakers.

I have a pair of KLH AV5001 speakers and I have them hooked up, there is sound but it's distorted and there's zero base, an instruction manual or any advice would be great, thank you.

Without knowing what they're hooked up too.. SOUNDS like your uder powering them, OR over powering them. Look at the back of the speakers the wattage is what your looking for, look at your amp, example: 1000w speaker running on 50w amp = not good.

This woofer was taken from a KLH Pro-71 Series. These were the top of the KLH line from ~94-99 when it was still a real company and not just a name. The woofer is rated for 5-350 watts at 8 ohms. Source: KLH Pro Series-71 Spec Sheet.

I need knobs for the KLH 21 radio

I would check with KLH first but if you have no luck, you might try at Electronic Goldmine who will not likely have the exact knobs but may have some that will work:
Elec. Goldmine
Enter 'knob" in the product search window.

Can't find specs/maker of klh 900b tweeter

KLH 900B tweeter specifications: 6 ohm, 40 watts. By the way, KLH's QC for speakers could be improved. One of my 900B tweeters quit because the spacing for the voice coil was way off reasonable tolerance and the body of the speaker coil base pillar (ie: magnitized part) was off-center - and cauesd the coil to ware and short. I contacted KLH but they did not respond.
