The washing was working fine and during a wash my daughter came along and pressed the buttons on the front of the machine.

Now the machine has stopped working. The drum will not spin no matter what programme is selected.

The water etc is fine and it does drain. The problem is the drum will not spin.

Try pressing 'end of cycle' button for a few seconds, and wait for over a minute or 2 to gently try the door.

Just replace the motor. the brushes are inside the motor and if you dont know what you're doing you will end up replacing the motor anyway. if your machine agitates but does not spin its not the motor, be more specific about make and model and more specific info on the problem and we might be able to help

Not spinning

the motor brushes need replaced
because they are worn

you can type your model number into ebay and buy a set
its an easy job to change them and you tube have some nice videos just type how to change motor brushes on a washing machine look at a few of the tutorials and then go for it

youll do no harm and save a few quid
but if you dont feel like it then ask a pal who knows
or buy in someone too do it
getting them the part and just pay them too fit it
and avoid getting ripped off... should cost no more than £60 max for the service

My washing machine trips the electric

take out the plug
remove the motor
now clean it ??
check the brushes or replace them if worn
or if you do not do this a new motor will be needed
as the motor safety switch will get blown

Washingmachine tub spins during the wash cycle

If it's a top loader it sounds like the spin pall on the transmission is stuck, which would mean new transmision

Washing machine motor works fine on spin but on wash, very weak w

Hi Dave, you got the answer right all on your own mate, it is brushes related, I had a similar problem ages ago and as it turned out it was the brushes breaking down, what you need to do is remove them both and clean the armature with some fine glass paper, inspect the brushes and make sure they slide in and out of their housing easily (no obstructions) then if they do, fit them back in to make sure they can reach the armature.

Indesit wg1234t wont spin

I also have this common problem with my WG1234T. - The pump still works but the motor no longer spins. The brushes have a ton of life left in them. I tested the motor by connecting directly to power and it spins so the fault is most likely with the 'controller' unit - i.e. the switch/timer device behind the program knob. This device was not really working perfectly before and sometimes caused erratic working but I think it has now died altogether. I'll try to get it to bits to fix it as I don't believe you can still get a replacement controller for this machine.
