If it turns on when plugged in try hitting the off/stop button after plugging it in. If it is an analog knob make sure it is in the off position before plugging in.

We have a small LG microwave LCS0712ST. We plug it in, it trips the GFCI. Doesn't have to be turned on to trip the outlet. The microwave works fine when plugged into a non-GFCI (regular outlet).

Yes, I have had the same problem repeatedly.
It turns out, GFI's are not made for Microwaves, many electric motors, etc.
I had to give up trying after a couple years.
I now do not plug microwaves into GFI's.
God bless your efforts.

The microwave does't make any noise ,,,but the count down on clock is working ...light is working but no fan ...or huming noise ...what could it be

HELLO.

The likely thing to be is that the microwave fan is faulty.the solution is to replace the fan.

Needed instrument:Phillips-head screwdriver.

Instructions on how to replace the fan is detailed given below.

    • 1. Unplug the microwave from the wall outlet to prevent an electrical shock while
    • working on the microwave oven.

    • 2 .Remove the screws holding the fan shroud to the top of the microwave oven. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, turn the screws counterclockwise to back them out of the panel. Set the screws in a safe place so they will be available for installing the new fan.

    • 3.Slide the fan shroud--also referred to as a damper plate--forward, toward the front of the microwave, to remove it. Set the shroud to the side.

    • 4. Lift the fan assembly out of the microwave. An electrical cable and plug is accessible once the fan assembly is out of the way.

    • 5. Unplug the electrical connector from the fan and fully remove the fan assembly.

    • 6. Set the new fan assembly close to the top of the microwave to facilitate plugging the new fan into the microwave's connector. Plug in the fan assembly.

    • 7. Position the new fan in the same orientation as the old fan's before its removal. Lower the fan assembly into position.

    • 8. Slide the fan shroud in place and install the screws to secure the shroud.

    • 9. Tighten the screws with the Phillips-head screwdriver by turning the clockwise.

    • 10. Plug the microwave oven into the wall outlet and test the new fan installation.
Thanks

Just bought new Samsung SMH9151 OTR Microwave. Installed it and it turns on for 3 seconds and turns off. I took it back down and just plugged it in the wall plug (while sitting on the counter) and same...

I don't mean to be coy, but if you bought it from a local company (Best Buy, Lowes, Home Depot), take it back (within the 30 day window) for a refund. I bought three microwaves (all poor quality) and returned them all!

I may be returning this Samsung if your review turns out to be true for my microwave.

The microwave just stopped working in the middle of heating

Always have something in the microwave before turning on. A glass of water is OK. It's needed to absorbed the energy.
All microwaves will stop if the door is opened. This a safety feature. Never operate with the door opened.
The button below the plug outlet is a test button for the GFI (Ground Fault Interrupter). This is a safety feature of the electrical wiring for your home. Make sure it's turned on.
Since this is a new unit, you may want to take it back to the store you bought from for an exchange/refund.

hi and wellcome to FixYa this is a comon problem with the control unit for the microwave being damaged the buttons start to stop working more or few buttons at a time, there are companys that sell the front units seperate for these microwaves but can cost more than a new microwave itself , the unit itself is damaged by heat from the microwave or on rare accasions damp im sorry there is no other way to sort this apart from a new front control unit or a new microwave

Thanks Hope this helps a little
