Wireless connection switch on

I have a new Advent laptop, but I am unable to connect to the Internet wirelessly, I can connect with a cable OK, but not wirelessly.
The laptop has built-in capability, but it says I must switch the wireless connection on; this is either by a switch on the side of the laptop, or a key combination. There are no switches that I can see, and I do not know what the key combination is.
A user guide that I have refers to a computer users manual for the information to enable the wireless connection, I do not have this user manual, so not sure what to do in order to activate the wireless connection.
Help and assistance would be appreciated.

Kind regards John

The only details I have in respect of the model are:

The laptop is a Advent Intel Pentium Dual Core T3400 2.16GHz, and is using Windows Vista Home Premium 17'' widescreen TFL

The wireless connection wizard does not appear to be an option. The connection icon that comes up advises that the wireless connection is off; the on switch is in grey and does not work. The help section says that there is either a switch on the front or side of the computer laptop, or there is a combination key operation to change the on/off switch. First there is not a switch on the laptop, second I do not know what the combination key switch is, and it does not appear to be on any information that I have, although the help information suggest that I should have this information.

The answer is perfect, the wireless connection is on, and connected to the Internet, many thanks and kind regards.

Sir, try downloading the wireless driver from your laptop company's website. Or form the drivers cd/dvd they provided you. Then you can connect to any wireless capable modem/router from your laptop.

The ethernet cable provides the internet pulses into your laptop. If you remove it, your internet connection gets disconnected.

Unable to find wireless switch on Advent laptop. There is a key combination like Fn + F10 but I cannot remember which.can you tell me?

Hi Friend,

Please find the key combination (for wireless/switch) for different Advent laptop models:

Advent 7096 ---- Button next to the power button
Advent 7100 ---- Fn / F2
Advent 7104 ---- Fn / F2
Advent 7201 ---- wireless key top right and then Fn / F2
Advent 8117 ---- small slide switch on the front of laptop

I hope this will resolve the issue.

Why do you require a wireless connection on the computer, when it is already connected to the router through ethernet cable? Disable the wireless connection permanently & try.
